Wodka Vodka

Anti-Semitic Billboard Pulled

For Being Super Anti-Semitic

11/24/2011 12:35 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Wodka Vodka billboard -- christmas quality, hanukkah pricing
Some dumbass at the Wodka Vodka company thought he could post a billboard reading, "Christmas Quality, Hanukkah Pricing" ... and everything would be cool. He was wrong.

The billboard -- posted in New York -- was taken down after the company received scores of phone calls and complaints from the Anti-Defamation League.

A rep for the ADL released a statement saying, "In a crude and offensive way of trying to make a point that their vodka is high quality and inexpensive, the billboards evoke a Jewish holiday to imply something that is cheap and of lesser value when compared to the higher value of a Christian holiday."

The rep added the billboard "reinforces anti-Semitic stereotypes.”

According to the Washington Post, the guy in charge of the moronic campaign is Brian Gordon -- who says he is Jewish and didn't intend to offend anyone ... explaining the billboard was supposed to convey that Hanukkah is an "understated" holiday.

Get over it! All this "we find it offensive" is total BS, absolutely no one in this country has a right NOT to be offended. If you are offended by the bill board then don't buy the product, just like if you don't like a show on tv, you just don'*****ch the show, normal people don't call for the show to be taken off the air. This is all so ridiculous.

Interesting, the ADL, Anti-defamation League does not like this due to their view of anti-semitism. Why do they condone slander against other religions. IF they were actually ANTI defamation, then they would stand against ALL acts of defamation, not just ones they feel are semitic in nature. They are pro-jewish culture/heritage/religion. That is fine, just admit your only interest is in Semitism.
The media is all over any signs of anti-semitism, force Islamic acceptance down our throat and allow Christianity to be bashed in the name of free speech. I am agnostic, have no "axe to grind" in this whole debate, but the media, TMZ included, is GREATLY biased.
Over 3/4 of the people polled say to "get over it". That is not anti-antisemitism, it is the general population just fed up with being told what is or isn't right by some high and mighty media source. The verbiage TMZ uses is very aggressive and slanderous toward the person that created the ad. They have determined what the opinion should be, once again another media outlet is wrong.
If the media is to ever get any REAL credibility, then remove the bias and state facts. Overwhelmingly, people here have decided it is not a bias ad. Follow through with your protection of bias activity by fairly and equally "protecting" all beliefs.
It is when an organization like the ADL gets offended by an ad like this, yet turns the other way when a Jewish curator allows anti-Christianity "art" to be displayed in the name of free speech, that a breeding ground for anti_semticism is created.

"to imply something that is cheap and of lesser value when compared to the higher value of a Christian holiday" -- I didn't get that exactly. You have to know that Hanukkah is about small gifts to get that meaning, but you need only know that Jews are price-conscious to get the lesser ethnic joke. It is not an ad I would have approved.

First of all, the answer to everything you don't have the brain power to comprehend or the sensitivity to deal with is NOT "Get over it."

The ad is premised upon the negative stereotype of the "cheap Jew." Disclaim it all the live-long day and you can't get around it. Where else would the monetary value comparison of a Christian vs. a Jewish holiday come from?

You talk about being anti-semetic????Take a look back for the last 20 years of "Christmas time movies" The Hollywood Jews have been making movies that DENEGRATE every Christian value of that season-- They belittle the true meaning of Christmas, with Drunken Santa Clauses, Fithy innuendo , Unsacredness of the season-In so many ways they use this time of the season to belittle Christianity and the holy season-- The famous Wienstien Bros,Miramax studios has been a major source of this two-faced ,tactic -- Then, they are the FIRST to call out anti-semitismm when they are attacked!!!Just look back at MANY of the MOVIES that ridicule and distort the meaning of Christmas and you will get it!!!

The Anti-Defamation League makes a living asking donors money and justify it by finding antisemitism everywhere there is none. Its too bad TMZ takes their side saying the ad is Super Anti-Semitic, the guy is a dumbass, the campaign is moronic. You guys are morons to get all upset at this ad while making childish jokes every single day on any topics.

If they wanted to be anti-semitic they would have said, "Christmas Quality, with a price those damn cheap ass Jews won't whine over". I mean... They are simply saying "Jews are thrifty", which most Jewish people would laugh at and even agree with. Some hold it as a badge of honor. I've seen worse on 'the Family Guy'. this wasn't anti-semitic.

It's seriously beyond time for people to get upset at the slightest remark. The result is a bunch of overly-sensitive people with skin so thin that sneezing in their direction is considered a brutal attack.
