Heather Locklear

Family Wants Treatment

At UCLA Hospital

1/14/2012 11:10 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

0112_heather_locklear_ex_3

Heather Locklear is out of the hospital, but we've learned her family wants her back in -- at UCLA Hospital.

As we first reported, Heather went to rehab last October in her battle with prescription drug addiction ... and it wasn't her first time.

Sources tell us the family wants her in a hospital setting this time around -- not a boutique rehab place -- and UCLA has one of the best facilities in the country.

You may recall, Lindsay Lohan spent time at UCLA's Stewart and Lynn Reskick Neuropsychiatric Hospital in August 2010, but she was released early.

As of yesterday, we're told Heather did not want to go to rehab again ... period.

For the sake of your daughter, GO! Stop being selfish and reckless and put your daughter first. Get healthy and be a better role model for her. Show her that SHE comes first before your pills and booze.

Stop hurting your daughter, bad enough you hurt yourself but, but when it crosses lines and boundaries of hurting your friends and family, your parents, your daughter, then it is time to look within and fix yourself and stop causing them pain.

You are hurting them, think of them, not just yourself.

I like Heather Locklear. I am not a friend of hers, but I had the privilege to be around her in the past and see her interact with her parents and daughter and Mr. Sambora at the time... and she was delightful, pretty with absolutely no makeup, and adorable. She deserves to be left alone to handle any personal issues, just like the rest of us would like to do with our lives. People who say rude or mean things just because they are on the anonymous Internet are way off base and prove their own unhappiness with their lives when they spout off about people whom they have never even met. They get their kicks in a weird way, and it is too bad they grew up from an innocent baby into such a mean-hearted person.

Eventually, that period . will become a question mark ? and then an exclamation point ! and she will get help and move on to a smiley face (-:

Denial is one of the most prominent symptoms of addiction. Her family needs to practice some tough love on her and let
her reach her bottom. She needs an addiction specialist that will put her Suboxone and no other mind altering drugs. She needs to stay away from alcohol. All this is easier said than done. Some psychiatrists cause more harm than good because they don't know the first thing about addiction.

One of the basic tenets of rehab is you have to WANT rehabilitation. So long as Locklear doesn't WANT to be rehabilitated, rehabilitation just won't work in the long term.

Amen to the postings about the huge problem of prescription medication abuse; it is indeed a plague of our times. But there is hope for overcoming addictive behaviors. Check out www.smartrecovery.com and the best-book-ever about addiction, "Sex, Drugs, Gambling & Chocolate" by Dr. A. Thomas Horvath.

I just wish her the best of health and happiness. Always a good egg. Hollywood is too hard on women in general. She needs to move somewhere where normal people live. Glad her family is around her. Hugs and prayer for the best, Heather.

Heather is one of the last people I'd think would wind up addicted and in trouble. Just shows anyone can. Hoping her family, friends and doctors can talk her into UCLA for some serious help.
