... Announcement

He's paid his dues ... time after time ... and now Adam Lambert says he's been chosen to replace Freddie Mercury as the new lead singer of the legendary rock band Queen!!!! (Maybe not. See update below.)

Lambert KILLED IT with the band when he rocked out a rendition of "We Are The Champions" with the guys at the "American Idol" finale back in 2009 ... the first time he ever met the band.

30-year-old Lambert explained, "The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some f*cking great songs. It’s to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would have been proud of.

So, we gotta ask ...

Lambert took to Twitter to say the reports of him taking over Queen weren't exactly true and his quotes were "taken out of context" and he hasn't confirmed any guest appearances. He went on to say, "That being said, I'm truly flattered by your jump to such glorious conclusions mr journalist!! :)"

About time.... guess he finally figured out his career was going nowhere... he should have taken the gig as soon as Idol was over.

Please! Adam has made it very clear he has no intention of 'replacing' Freddie. I wish writers would stop wording article titles this way. It just causes hurt feelings and negative comments. Adam Lambert said over and over, that he loves Queen, admired Freddie very much, and is honored to sing Queen songs. They, and esp Freddie, have been an inspiration for him. If Roger and Brian want Adam to sing with them so they can perform again, let's just all enjoy the show!! it is wonderful to see the winners of the "Global Icon" Award perform a bit longer, don't you think? And, Adam is no slouch in the "pipes" dept. If Brian and Roger like Adam, so should their fans. If you aren't a fan of Adam Lambert, you might not realize his hard work and success so far in his career since Idol. He has a huge international following and for good reason.

i hate the idea that bands feel the need to do comebacks when the entire band isn't alive anymore. it's not really queen. let it go!

Sorry, not even close! Thank you for those of you who mentioned Marc Martel. Yep, he is awesome! My other suggestion would have been George Michael. He did a great job with Somebody to Love as well.

Freddy was a great front singer for Queen, but he was not a God. No one is the greatest singer of all time. They all have their own style and sound. I honestly believe that Adam Lambert is a also a great singer with the ability to change up any song he wants and use his vocal range with ease. I don't understand all the hositility towards him. Adam is just trying to live his dream and paying tribute to his idol Freddy Mercury by singing with Queen is part of that dream. Freddy's fans should be flattered not offended.

All these poser saying no one can replace Freddie probably don't even own one Queen song. Idiots. No one is trying to replace Freddie. What do you have sh*t for brains? Queen is keeping the music alive. All you idiots who are fans of some Mark guy. Take a hike. You're looking pathetic.

The title of this one. I thought he met and was going to marry his gueer queen. Well, as for if he is Queen enough. Being gay, having a nice voice, I would say so. LOL

Let the Queen Of Queer sing, why not? This country has gone to hell anyway.

If you people would pay attention, you'd realize that as good as Mark Martel is, he's a Freddie imitator. Adam Lambert is paying homage to Freddie, not trying to replace or imitate him. He's a once-in-a-generation voice that's the perfect choice to honor Freddie, and he himself has said Freddie cannot be replaced. Believe me, if Freddie is turning in his grave, it's over your asinine comments, not that a great singer is keeping his memory alive & honored.

He's no Freddie Mercury, but then again who is, or who could be? No one could get out there and fill Freddie's shoes. I think the idea is to get out there and play and give the fans a lil taste of what once was. It will be interesting to see where it goes.

What's that sound I hear?? Oh yes...the sound of Adam Lambert's "career" flushing down the toilet. Can't be legit as a solo artist, so plan B is mimicking the Great Freddie Mercury.
