Christopher Nolan

James Holmes is a Savage

breaking news

"Dark Knight Rises" director Christopher Nolan just released the following statement regarding the massacre in Colorado:

"Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of 'The Dark Knight Rises', I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community.

I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime.

The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me.

Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families."

After a while, the mere "heart/ thoughts/ prayers go to the victims" phrase gets cold, and doesn't hold as much weight after said (or read) from the 25,000th person, Having said that, it's very refreshing & sentimental to hear an in depth statement like this, ESCPECIALLY from Mr. Nolan, concerning this situation. Very well said, Mr. Nolan, and thank you. I think this hits home because most of us want to, and WILL see this movie - and this could've happened ANYWHERE. For me, this does not AT ALL make me want to stay clear from any theatre - I WILL go and enjoy this movie..

dam shame this had to happen. but this situation as well as all others involving a gun are situations that can be eliminated if theres a repel of the second amendment. the NRA is the most powerful special interest group in the country. if you breaks their backs, if you hold their feet to the fire, then owning guns and possesing them becomes impossible. all the public school shootings, all the "stand your ground" situations, all the late night clubbing/house party flareups will have a lot of survivors without guns being presently available. i'm angry at this kunclehead but i'm also tired of the families that say something has to be done when the solution was ALWAYS in their face!

Try again *******s. Nolan didn't even mention the shooter's name, much less actually call him anything. Yay sensationalist link baiting.

Maybe not savage...maybe schizophrenic?

This is why families and people who are affected with mental illness don't get help...thay are shamed. Maybe he just entered the depths of that mental disease. I am sad for his family and the shooter as well as the victims. Some of you know exactly what I am saying.

"The thief comes to steal , kill and destroy."

Do you understand what is said there?

Very true. Let's hear from Nolan, he truly said pretty much what I think. And hope that after that horrible episode, people who work on movie theatres have some improvements concerning security. After all, the people who were there at Aurora came to watch a movie, not to be shot clean by a lunatic who has no moral, no respect for human life and now is hopefully about to face lady justice.

Extremely eloquently put. It is tragic that we can no longer feel safe in the places where we would seek the slightest bit of comfort in our own backyards. Mr. Nolan, thank you for saying what we all were thinking and for saying it so well.
