USA Basketball

Whew!

That Was a Close One

8/4/2012 5:40 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0804_lebron_james_gettyTeam USA was actually TRAILING IN THE FOURTH QUARTER ... but LeBron James took over and led the Americans to a close 99-94 win over Lithuania.

James and Carmelo Anthony each had 20 points to lead the team. Lithuania's Linus Kleiza led all scorers with 25.

Team USA has won 13 gold medals and is the overwhelming favorite at this year's Olympics. Earlier this week, they beat Nigeria 156–73 ... an Olympic record for points scored in a game.

They next play on Monday night against Argentina.

The question everybody wants to know is...How many white women were impregnated after the game by team usa? For that matter how many during warm ups?

Olympic basketball is the one Olympic discipline where NBA athletes really should not be invited due to their diva attitudes and demands. Roided-up jocks like Bryant want to be paid. Can't believe a comment like that..

You read these comments and how people would like to see them lose. These basketballers really wouldn't give a rat's ass if thery lost. They would laugh about it.

food for thought for those who understand basketball: Lithuania had 23 turnovers, USA had 9, but the game was very close.

I think these USA atheletes forget why they are atheletes when growing up its all about the ball all about making it...then once they get a taste of money and "celebrity status" they start to forget the true meaning of being an NBA athlete...still alive the dream team represent! Mj!

I agree with superdave. They are an arrogant spoiled, selfish lot. and are poor representatives of this country. I would rather lose with the old college guys of old but most of them are just as bad except not rich yet. Nice to see a real team take these pompous "pros" to the wall. Since I'm 1/4 Lithuanian I could easily jump on their bandwagon.

Jim Thorpe was stripped of hid GOLD medals as the Olympic Commission said he was professional for playing in Minor League Baseball. Come on lets get allan the PRO NBA, Tennis, Hockey and who ever gets paid Millons out of the Olimpics. It's not fair. It's like buying the medals. Pro's against amateurs this sucks. And NBC coverage sucks more commericals than sports. Baseball was removed this year.

Get rid of ALL PRO's who are paid millions. Jim Thorpe was stripped of his Gold medals in track. The Olympic commission said he was a pro. Because he played a little Minor League Baseball. Why compeat for medals when the U.S. sports owners are paying millions to the pro's to get medals. They even get a bonus if they medal in their sport. Now the IRS wants to TAX the medal money won. No matter how much the Gov't collects they just blow it, NBC coverage sucks, more commericals than sports coverage.

I liked how both teams played, I'm not a basketball watcher but i still found the game to be entertaining. Plus just a correction it is Linas Kleiza and not Linus Kleiza.
