Big Bird
and the rest of the fine people at Sesame Street don't give two craps about Mitt Romney's politics -- but they're PUMPED he gave BB a shoutout during last night's Presidential debate ... despite the whole "Death to PBS" thing.

Sesame Street released a statement this morning following Romney's Big Bird reference, saying, "Sesame Workshop is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, educational organization. We do not comment on campaigns, but we're happy we can all agree that everyone likes Big Bird."

In case you missed the debate last night, Romney mentioned Big Bird in reference to cutting PBS funding in order to save government money.

Romney said, "I'm going to stop the subsidy to PBS ... I like PBS. I love Big Bird. But I'm not going to keep spending money on things to borrow money from China to pay for it."

A rep for Sesame Street -- which has been a partner of PBS for 43 years -- says the show relies on PBS to distribute its commercial-free programming to children. In other words, no PBS ... no Sesame Street.

The CEO of PBS Paula Kerger told CNN this morning, "With the enormous problems facing the country, the fact that we are the focus is unbelievable to me. We are America’s biggest classroom, we touch children across the country in every home."

Long story short, Romney wants to kill Big Bird.

Umm ok...

We should not be borrowing money from China to support PBS. It is ridiculous! PBS can put commercials on like every other network and support itself and nobody watches it anymore, they can make adjustments to programming and figure their $hit out. Supply & demand! Free market! The government needs to quit picking losing entities to prop up with our tax dollars!

The Federal Govt funds about 1% of PBS' budget. Given the amount of money they make on licensing for things like Sesame Street toys and clothing, I hardly think cutting off that funding would be the collapse of PBS.

Ratings Needed

Romeny DID NOT SAY he would dump Big Bird or Seasame Street. If the gov. didn't give funding to PBS they are still supported by viewers-via their telethons. It would be PBS that would decide what programs, if any, would be dumped. Keep that thought in mind.... would you rather have needy programs be funded or PBS?

Jim Hensen Productions and Sesame Street makes a ton of money from licensing products. There is absolutely no reason on the face of the earth that the taxpayers should be finding Sesame Street. Nor should we fund PBS or NPR.

OBAMA CLAUS

Who gave whom the BigBird ? Lerher was "leading the witness" during the many brain freezes Obama suffered, the "moderator" saved him by giving him the correct answers! It was very disturbing , to see the leader of the free world reduced to stammers, smirks, and superiority on parade !

So what did the mass media say about Obama"s breakdown ?

"the president doesn't like to debate"

"he looks tired"

"it was the high altitude"

Oh c'mon ! And it's his wedding anniversary !

Could it be that Obama has been knocked off his perch by the recent re_release of Obama's 2007 speech with Reverand Wright > Obama used many racial slurs against American f Caucasian decent, spoke with a 'Black" accent, race baited his audience (whiich is hurtful for them much more....check it out.. He really came off as the most ingenuois , phoney cat of all time.

Go to ANY Walmart, Target, etc & go to the toy aisle. You will see many, many toys from Sesame Street. Why should my tax dollar be sent to this network when they surely can be self-sustaining? What does PBS actually give us for our dollar? Yes, my kids love Sesame Street, but they also love some of the Disney shows, some of the Nick Jr shows, etc. These networks are able to be viable without my dollar – it is time PBS does the same.

No, no, he wants to free Big Bird. Instead of keeping him in a cage, he wants Big Bird to be able to fly free in the wild, competing for his food. If Sesame Street is really that important, it will survive and thrive in the competition of children's television.

If the American people knew how much we spend and waste over our project in the middle east they would **** themselves over this statement. The quarters that the soldiers are housed in are all bunk style, cheap wood material, the cheapest toilets, sheets , blankets and all materials ( and I mean cheap) and the cheapest food. But the government bills out for these items for RIDICULOUS amounts to the american people as "defense" costs. It's mandatory for the troops to wash a load of laundry twice a week. Only, the soap is like cheap oil and you have to use their machines and their soap, which is the cheapest detergant but the bill the cost of doing the whole load at 65$. And you HAVE to do twice a week. If you don't have dirty clothes, they will make you grab something to wash to get that load on paper, to make that money. We are building a small America over there.
If a mack truck that is hauling cement for a road building project that a military U.S crew is being paid to build over there on afghani soil and the tire goes flat, they will junk the whole truck purchase another one. They bill the American people for the new most expensive mercedes mack trucks and most of it is all pocketed by our sleazy heads of state. Look into Haliburton and the AMerican Corporations that we are building over there and when you see who owns these ( the Bush, Secretary of Treasurery, Kissinger etc , they're all sleazy and they're making BILLIONS off of charging for **** for their companies on Iraq and AFGHN soil and writing it off as all military expenses. They have homes and offices over there now that are INSANE, all paid for by YOU the AMerican idiot. The fact that Romney will cut PBS when he's part of the bigger scam is gross.
