Big Bird to Mitt Romney

Thanks for the Shoutout!

Big Bird
and the rest of the fine people at Sesame Street don't give two craps about Mitt Romney's politics -- but they're PUMPED he gave BB a shoutout during last night's Presidential debate ... despite the whole "Death to PBS" thing.

Sesame Street released a statement this morning following Romney's Big Bird reference, saying, "Sesame Workshop is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, educational organization. We do not comment on campaigns, but we're happy we can all agree that everyone likes Big Bird."

In case you missed the debate last night, Romney mentioned Big Bird in reference to cutting PBS funding in order to save government money.

Romney said, "I'm going to stop the subsidy to PBS ... I like PBS. I love Big Bird. But I'm not going to keep spending money on things to borrow money from China to pay for it."

A rep for Sesame Street -- which has been a partner of PBS for 43 years -- says the show relies on PBS to distribute its commercial-free programming to children. In other words, no PBS ... no Sesame Street.

The CEO of PBS Paula Kerger told CNN this morning, "With the enormous problems facing the country, the fact that we are the focus is unbelievable to me. We are America’s biggest classroom, we touch children across the country in every home."

Long story short, Romney wants to kill Big Bird.

Mormons probably don't watch Sesame Street. A lot of ultra-conservative types don't even watch TV, and therefore Sesame Street and PBS holds no value to them.

But not me and my family.

Romney's statement about PBS made me realize that both candidates suck and we as a nation are screwed either way.

Im no Romney fan but I have to admit he was amazing last night.

As to you stupid point, you are not listening to what he said. He loves Big Bird, he just doesn't want to borrow $ to pay him...... Harvey and TMZ must make decisions like this everyday!

You're showing your panties. Unbiased? Nope! He does NOT want PBS killed, he just wants to stop paying for it, and I;m sure hundreds of other "insignificant" expenses. It's called budgeting. Morons.

Wow, there are a lot of republicans and stupid people who don't realize these are two different men, different personalities. Obama's always been cool, and Romney's always been "pushy." LOL. Neither one won. What's important is their plans. I vote for OBAMA's plan - caring about the American people. To all you who love Romney, if he does win, gasoline will rise to $10 a gallon, insurance premiums will go up more, and salaries will go down. And I will be a laughing at you saying "Told you so."

When Romney gives you a worthless voucher for medical care then you will know how good the present system is. When the Canadians crack down on Americans crossing the border to use theeir system then we will know how good our system is. WE spend more on the militarythan Russia, China, Britain, France, Germany, Isreal, Spain, Italy and Japan combined, Romney wants to spend more who is going to pay for these sweetheart no bid contracts to romneys friends.
Just imagine A president with Swiss Bank Accounts, Money in the Cayman islands. Hiding his taxes because he didnt pay 1 penny in 2008 and 2009.
Now who is a free loader.

Yeah, keep borrowing from China in order to keep Big Bird alive.

They should send Big Bird to China so they can turn him/her to "Peking Big Bird".

Mitt Romney didn't say he was going to "kill big bird" people are so stupid. PBS makes the majority of their money from pandering to people and asking for handouts. "If you donate $150 today, we'll send you this fifty cent PBS coffee mug". Taxpayers pay between 3 and 12% annually unnecessarily. Again... they can stand on their own feet and make money to stay afloat... plus, PBS is a luxury not a necessity. Police, Medical personnel, teachers, they're necessities. Parents taking responsibility for their children instead of letting TV raise them... that's a necessity. PBS... people lived without it before the invention of the TV, so not a necessity. Besides, it leans so far left... can you imagine if someone created a right leaning PBS and asked for tax payers to subsidize it?

Romney did not say he wanted to get rid of Big Bird. He said he would cut FEDERAL subsidies of the program, which is quite different.

I would rather pay less taxes and have the choice to donate to PBS, than to be forced to through paying more taxes so the FEDERAL government can subsidize PBS.

The celebrities who claim they love Big Bird can donate all they want - so can the states.

Tax and spend is fine when the economy is going great and the deficit is near balanced, but not when it's not - like now.

PBS is, and has always been a big tool for the democratic party. About 7 years ago, they contracted with Al Jazeera....the same people who posts our troops getting their heads get cut off by Al Qaeda, to have them do PBS's news. Al Jazeera is a middle east, west hating news organization who puts out sympathy pieces on terrorists.
