The horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut has put some fundamental issues in rack focus. So we gotta ask ...You Be the Judge
maybe if people knew how to treat others, they could save all the security measures, leading to more mistrust and overall discomfort. or maybe this was just another jealous freak who wanted to show the world...
Half your silly questions are predicated on the 2nd Ammendment which should be abolished!! You Americans can't see the forest for the trees!!
When the 2nd constitutional amendment was enacted over 200 years ago, the United States was as different place. At that time there was tremendous fear of government tyranny, invasion, insurrection, and guns were required for defense and the protection of one’s family. Back then the United States did not have a particularly stable government, a unified military force, or city and state law enforcement organizations, as they do today. Today the United States is a very different place with an established democracy, complete independence, excellent law enforcement organizations, a strong military presence and no particular fear of foreign invasion (thanks to an arsenal of enough nuclear weapons to disintegrate the planet). So why then is the right to bear arms so important, today? Why do some Americans cling to this with such desperation? Does someone really need multiple automatic weapons to protect their family these days? Isn’t that what 911 is for. Given this recent tragedy, one of numerous tragic multiple shootings in the United States, I would ask my American friends to consider whether or not every American really needs the right to bear arms in the year 2012.
all i see is them being used to exact revenge.I keep hearing everyone wanting a gun to protect themselves but
Why oh, why, were those school children already being interviewed on this massacre within hours of the carnage? My God ... I was still weeping and I couldn't even imagine what those children were going through; those kids didn't even know if all their friends survived. What parent, what news correspondent couldn't let those poor students be and not exploit the situation? PLEASE: Leave the kids & their families alone -- let the police investigate, and don't put these poor children in the media spotlight with questioning. Shame on the media-hoar parents who let their kids be spotlighted. And double-shame on the media outlets for even pursuing these kinds of stories in the name of news.
the guns belonged to the mother of the shooter??
why did a mother of an autistic kid have guns??
autism is most commonly treated with SRIs
SSRIs have a long history of triggering irrational violence
You guys are idiots running that piture without blurring those kids faces. They're under 18 and just went through their friends and siblings being killed. in front of them. Have some respect for them in their families.
Let your 6 year old kids watch shows like sons of guns and play violent video games and you'll see how they will turn out when they reach 20. They'll want to own guns and have fun by shooting innocent people.
I am a CHL carrier. I was vetted and background checked before I was allowed to even participate in the education element of the process. Unfortunately I have to say that if there were armed (open carry) trained teachers at the school there would have been fewer deaths. Another observation, if I recall - any of the recent shootings the shooter did not have a legal license to carry and in this case, the shooter used his mother's guns to commit this atrocity.
I believe by removing the stigmal of mental illness, providing the treatment thru medical insurance (like no caps on mental health), and going back to being able to hospitalize people that are sick might be a good start. Let's not ignore this by screaming about guns.
OK Ban assault rifles- his was in the car. OK call for mental tests before buying a gun. Oh he stole the guns. OK Ban criminals. He was a nice kid. Oh OK now explain how we stop this again?
The first reaction to tragedies like this is to take away everyones rights and guns. Strict gun measures do not protect against mass shooting. Norway has some of the strictest gun laws and they had a gunman kill 77. Instead of taking away guns from law abiding citizens, why dont we let the teachers carry weapons to protect themselves and the students.
Pride cometh before a fall and a haughty spirit before destruction. When you are too proud to see your own faults and the trauma that you needlessly cause others, you see your destruction befall you. If you want to live in a safe society, you need mutual respect, not gun control.
