Stevie Wonder's

$40 Tax Lien

Just an Oversight

EXCLUSIVE

Stevie Wonder
obviously didn't see the letters from the State of California -- 'cause he's been slapped with two separate tax liens ... accusing him of owing a staggering $40 to the government (that isn't a typo).

TMZ obtained the liens against Stevie ... and hilariously, the collection costs and penalties are higher than the tax bill itself -- $98 in total, almost two and a half times the tax amount.

All told, California says Stevie's gotta pay $138 ... which he probably earned in music royalties in the time it took you to read this post.

Where on earth will Stevie come up with that kind of money to pay the tax Lien?

Democrats are evil

Whether this is the state of California or Obama's federal gov't, they are both so far into debt, threats of liens for small amount will be commonplace because this is how the liberial gov't mafia operates. Get used to it suckers. You voted for them.

While im not denying he ow's it and should have paid it even after notices. I have to ask the man hours involved looking for every cent missing when theres bigger issues here... like maybe a better system, it would be nice in ways if it was like a cellphone bill or something and we can see what we ow. Relying on mail which has proven to be lost, late, and too costly. When we have newer options to improve things. The IRS system is too, old and needs overhauled. its time to step up to today.

OMG you did NOT just mock Stevie's blindness by using the word "oversight" in your title, did you? Nah, not even TMZ would be that insensitive. Right? RIGHT?

TMZ, your newly hired high school dropout got this story all wrong - big time. 1. The do***ent is not from the State of Cali. It's from Los Angeles County
2. It's not an income tax lien, it's a Property Tax lien.

I am surprised TMZ didn't lead with "Stevie Wonder Broke...Can't Pay His Taxes." They LOVE misleading headlines.

Moment of Clarity

The IRS uses delay tactics like an outdated collection contact system to ensure taxpayers always owe more tax. The penalties, interest and collection costs become higher than the original tax bill - leading to seizing assets sooner

LOVE Stevie!!!! However, he needs to get a better tax person or company. Not that he can't afford the 138 dollars but it's the principal.
