Johnny Manziel

Didn't Blow Off Teammates for Drake

... School Says

1/4/2014 12:45 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

0103-johnny-manziel-gettyJohnny Manziel's Texas A&M teammates aren't even a little bit mad that their QB immediately skipped town to party with Drake just one day after their Bowl victory ... in fact, a rep for the school tells us Johnny put in some serious team celebration time BEFORE he left.

As we previously reported, Johnny -- who most likely played his last college game on Dec. 31 -- jetted to Miami to hang with his pal Drake on Jan. 1 ... saying he needed a little "vaca."

0102-drake-instagramBut Texas A&M Associate Athletic Director of Media Relations Alan Cannon tells TMZ Sports ... the team isn't bitter at Johnny for leaving so quickly, because they spent lots of quality time together the night of the victory.

"Johnny came back to the hotel on the team bus and celebrated with his teammates and the fans that had gathered in the lobby."

Cannon adds, "This whole team supports Johnny. He is very much a part of the team -- a key part."

There are people who are saying Johnny's fast exit shows he was never that committed to his teammates in the first place. But one A&M player we spoke with says that's all BS ... explaining there was never a problem with the relationship between Johnny and his teammates ... it was solid until the end.

Patch Eye Punk

I am very close to the inner circle of Texas A&M athletic department and many money contributors want Manziel gone. A&M hides alot of his nonsense. He is out of control and follows no rules. He is simply wreckless and A&M wants that gone as well. The school is tired of being tired of being in a negative spotlight. Do I believe that he was selfless and left his team? Yes I do. Without a doubt. Wait until he goes to the NFL and TMZ follows his every step and watch how he will fall. His rich parents have saved him so far but no more when he goes pro.

Sure you are, PatchEye Punk. Wink wink must be hard to do with a patch eye.

Since you are in the inner circle of TAMU, you surely knew that there was NO team flight back to College Station. Every player and staff member were on the beginning of their winter break once the game was over. What TMZ doesn't tell its readers is Johnny wasn't the only one who left Atlanta for another destination, either to their homes or to a vacation spot. Like him, they scattered into all different directions the next morning. Some flew back to College Station and left for their homes from there. In other words, there is no story here.

And this article is a perfect example of how "negative press" happens for Johnny. Smoke...mirrors... lies by omission equals site hits.

Oh please! Johnny is much loved at A&M, and what he decides to do will be respected by Aggies. PERIOD. Try again TMZ.
