Joey Buttafuoco Pleads Not Guilty
Joey Buttafuoco will fight charges that he illegally possessed ammunition. TMZ was in Los Angeles Superior Court as he pleaded not guilty.
The man who gained fame by having an affair with the so-called "Long Island Lolita" Amy Fisher -- who shot Buttafuoco's wife, Mary Jo, in the face -- is currently on probation for felony insurance fraud. Under California law, he is not allowed to possess firearms or ammunition.
There's a lot at stake here. If Buttafuoco is convicted of illegally possessing ammo, he could be sentenced to three years in prison. In addition, he could do time for violating his current probation.
Buttafuoco's trial is set to begin on June 9.
