Playing catch with John Legend paid off ... because Chrissy Teigen nailed her first pitch at Tuesday night's Los Angeles Dodgers game.

TMZ Sports posted the video over the weekend of Teigen warming up for her big day ... and she didn't let nerves get the best of her when she took the mound. Possibly because she tweeted, "Crap I'm pretty drunk" ... shortly before the game.

Teigen passed on the fancy gymnastics gold medalist McKayla Maroney used during her first pitch in Chicago over the weekend.

And yes, they're both better than 50 Cent.
