It's Official! Roth to Rejoin Van Halen

Break out your spandex pants, start practicing your karate kicks; David Lee Roth is officially returning as the front man for Van Halen.
Diamond Dave rejoins Van Halen
Founding band member Eddie Van Halen made the first official announcement to TMZ, saying "It feels like a whole new beginning to be back with Dave and to be playing with my brother and my son. We look forward to going on tour."

Roth, an original member of Van Halen, quit the group in 1985. He rejoined the band briefly in 1996, only to quit again a few months later. Roth hasn't performed live with the group since 1984.

As TMZ first reported
, Eddie's son, Wolfgang Van Halen, will be playing bass with the supergroup on their upcoming tour. According to the band's rep, Janie Liszewski, the tour will cover most major U.S. cities, including L.A. and New York.

16. I liked van halen compared to some of the other 80's bands.

17. Farrah, it just goes to show how ignorant and RACIST YOU actually are. Black people are constantly complaining about the white man and how horrible the white man is, but you create the controversy all by yourselves. United Negro College Fund, Miss Black America, Black Video Music Awards, etc. etc. I can't even THINK about how far Sharpton would march if we had a CAUCASIAN college fund, or White miss america!!!!!!!!! You're just a fool and so is your race. Ever wonder why 85% of the population behind bars is BLACK?? Get over yourself, go find yourself a job, and get off welfare!!!! And by the way.....BLACK history month....Is that all you people have to be proud of??? Just one month????? Your pathetic.

18. Wolfie's bass will be shaped like a bottle of Sunny Delight.

P.S. Farrah's comments are on-topic because "Unchained" is a tribute to Roots.

19. Farrah, I was unaware that the blacks had invented fire. I wonder who invented water? Please note that while there is some debate over whether Neaderthal and other early hominids had the capacity for language, it was likely "invented" by prehistoric Homo Sapiens, possibly in Africa. If you take that to mean "blacks", then so be it; however, I think Cro Magnon is a more likely appelation. I also believe the wheel and agriculture were products of the early civilizations in the Fertile Crescent. That's the Middle East, not Africa, so settle down. Ultimately, we all came from the same stock. Finally, Michael Anthony was a sh*tty bass player, Eddie Van Halen is a primadonna and David Lee Roth was the only real singer
for Van Halen. :-)

23. How can it be called a reunion tour without all the original members reuniting?

24. First concert I ever went to VH on the 1984 tour down in LA. Talk about life changing event.

VH was one of the biggest bands of their time. If you weren't old enough to be into music in the early to mid 80s, you will never get it. They just don't get the credit they deserve these days for their impact on the late 70s and 80s.

25. I am glad David Lee is back.Van Halen with him is the only true Van Halen . Yeah it sucks that it won't be the original four. But hey cut the kid a break if has a much talent as his old man , he will kick but. Ans anyway its my understansing mike quit to be in a band with Hagar . Who by the way was a great artist on his own but I hated him with Van Halen.Their best albums were VH 1 and 2 . and 1984.

26. I think Fair Warning was their best. It wasn't their greatest seller, but it's kind of dark and edgy. The songs freaking rock too (you have to at least know Mean Streets and Unchained).

27. Everybody stop cryin, Eddie van halen knows what he's doing. His son is gonna kick ass on bass and sing great backups with dad. You know all you p***ys with big mouths don't have a clue of what your talking about. It's all about dave and eddie they are and will always be van halen. Who gives a f*** about mikey I think his bass solo sucked in concert.

28. I'll vote for Unchained and Ain't Talkin' Bout Love. Panama kicked ass as well. I can still remember before VH1 got so commercial..those rock videos were the bomb..as well as the VJays..Martha..Nena..etc..ahhhh memories (sigh)

29. Yeah, his bass solos were lame! But when you could hear his playing (I emphasize when), he wasn't really that bad at laying down the groove. I think his singing will be missed much more.

I don't see why people are so worried about Wolfie playing bass. Come on, all of us guitar players know that the VH bass lines ain't that difficult. I surely could have played all of the VH bass lines at that age in concert had someone showed them to me.

30. Eddie Van Halen's nothing but a selfish controlling ass who can play outstanding guitar. Put his wife through hell with his drinking till she finally left and now wants to subject his 15 yr. old son to his onstage touring addictions. Hell he even wrote songs for a coupla porn movies that were filmed at his own house! hahaha
The dude's also in serious denial claiming his cancer wasnt caused by smoking. Yah, that's why it came back when he started smoking again and he had more of his tongue removed.
Michael Anthony is the bass player and back up vocals for VH whether anyone thinks he's good or bad. Wolfie's been playing for only 3 yrs!! And Roth, pffttttt.
Believe it or not I'm a huge fan of VH with Roth or Hagar but Eddie's gotta get his head outta his ass and know when enough's enough. You cant replace certain people and have it be the same. Hell look at GnR. It's bullsh*t.
Oughta be interesting to see who shows up and who gets to perform when these guys are inducted to the Hall of Fame.
