It's Official! Roth to Rejoin Van Halen

Break out your spandex pants, start practicing your karate kicks; David Lee Roth is officially returning as the front man for Van Halen.
Diamond Dave rejoins Van Halen
Founding band member Eddie Van Halen made the first official announcement to TMZ, saying "It feels like a whole new beginning to be back with Dave and to be playing with my brother and my son. We look forward to going on tour."

Roth, an original member of Van Halen, quit the group in 1985. He rejoined the band briefly in 1996, only to quit again a few months later. Roth hasn't performed live with the group since 1984.

As TMZ first reported
, Eddie's son, Wolfgang Van Halen, will be playing bass with the supergroup on their upcoming tour. According to the band's rep, Janie Liszewski, the tour will cover most major U.S. cities, including L.A. and New York.

61. Hey, Dave, Eddy and crew, especially Wolfie - So glad you guys have put aside your differences and you're going to TREAT us all again to Van Halen. Fifteen is not too young to kick it. I did it, and for 5 years straight; Wolfie, show 'em what you've got, buddy. Pshawwww on the naysayers. The proof is in the pudding. The negative comments will keep on coming, but it doesn't matter to your fans nor will it to most who will come to see you. Just ask Tina Turner. You do this and finish this, and you'll earn the respect you'll be due. The Stones have a decade or two on you guys; you're hardly filing for your pensions yet. Even the Police are doing it, and Prince is back. Here, here for all of the ACCOMPLISHED musicians. There's a whole new generation or two that is going to be BLOWN away when they witness Van Halen. I take my daughter to most of the new artists concerts, and have seen nothing in the last 15 - 20 years to rival or come even close to what you guys can dish. And I give credit where credit is due.

62. It's sad really. Eddie, it's time to retire and let us savour your music. Don't be Elvis, man, and have people giggle when your name is mentioned.

64. Well, I have to agree with most of you, Eddie has his head up his ass. He is trying to recapture Van Halen glory days.. I was fortunate enough to see the ORIGINAL line up and Sammy Hagar with Van Halen. Sammy made them what they were but watching David Lee was awesome. I wish them the best because I personally won't spend a dime on seeing them again with or without Michael Anthony.

65. You said they have not played since 1985....I said that they have.....few songs...or 1 song...they got back together and played a few songs...wouldn't that be like a reunion?

66. In the case of Farrah, whom we all seem to agree is a lonely piece of sh*t with too much time on her hands and no apparent friends, can we just stop sending posts to her? I say from now on just ignore her and she'll slink back under her rock where she belongs.

No feeding the trolls, no Farrah

67. Jesus Christ maybe they should dig up Garcia and rename the band, Were Greatful There Dead. Just another bunch of old lame rockers who dont know when to call it quits.

68. Well... there goes my idea for Rockstar: Van Halen

Back to Diamond Dave, huh? I heard his voice was shot, but maybe not. I admit that when I listen to Van Halen, it's Van Halen with DLR ... and when I listen to Hagar it's his solo stuff. Will miss Michael Anthony tho. Maybe not the best bassist around, but was still a huge part of Van Halen. Just wish these guys would stop playing musical chairs with their vocalists. Should make for a very interesting night when these guys all get together for the Rock Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Assuming they all show up.

69. I must admit that im intriqued and want to see DLR and Eddie on stage again but honestly I prefer Hagars voice over DLR. It wont be the same without MIchael but im sure Wolfgang can hold his own. And Farrah is the reason blacks will never be on the same level as whites. Unfortunately, 90% of blacks in america share her opinions. Not many Bill Cosbys out there.......

73. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE who thinks Van Hagar was better than Classic Van Halen is certifiably nuts.

Classic Van Halen is back, Van Hagar is (thankfully) dead FOREVER. AAAAMEN!!!

Hey Sammy.....all the best in the future as a solo artist, man.

Just steer clear from joining any other classic bands.

How do I know when it's love? Why can't this be love? Love walks in...Can't stop lovin' you...Don't tell me what love can do...

........I AIN'T TALKIN' 'BOUT LOVE!

75. Eddie can still shred. That alone is worth the price of a ticket. ( To a degree ) Then there's the curiosity factor. Dave and Ed on stage together. Might be worth it. Again, to a degree.
