If she truly hurt her back and was put on "bed rest".....then how does she get to the studio everyday?? Most people who are on "bed rest" are not supposed to get out of bed at all!!! That's why it's called "bed rest"!!! I personally think it's another stunt to get more viewers.

I love Ellen and watch her as often as I can, but I just realized that it's May. May is sweeps. A show's life depends on sweeps. If you don't get enough viewers for sweeps, your advertising income goes down. If you get alot, it goes up.

I can look at it two ways....

It's a bit of a stunt to get viewership or she HAS to be there, no matter what, because it is sweeps.

Either way, if it wasn't sweeps, there would be guest hosts in for her if she had a physical problem.

She seems like a pretty honest person to me and I feel badly that she probably HAS to be there because it is sweeps, no matter what.

Why are some of the posts being deleted?? A few minutes ago there were 47. Now there are 42.

Geez, "loser," don'cha know that she tapes, at least a day early, and the 24 hour webcam shows us the rehearsal? THAT'S where the pictures come from, dammit!

Ellen - I watched your show today - I am so sorry to hear about your back. I too am suffering & the doctors can't seem to get the pain to go away.- I have has so many injections that i cant even think that I could have more - which is what they want to do. Please take care of yourself - cuz when the back is out - life is a BI--H !!!

If she was ordered to take complete bed rest...how can she get to and from the studio. It doesn't make any sense to me.
However, I thought the show was a hoot . Only Ellen could pull this off. I am a hugh fan of hers.

Sad to see Ellen'd doctors are so old school and apparently hav read so litte of current research on low back. "Go to bed for a week" went out decades ago. What happens after a week in bed? You get stiffer and weaker. Then what? The MD says better go to bed for another which leads to more stiffness and weakness. Then What? The MD says "We tried conservative care and it didn't work so we'll have to operate".
Bed rest is NOT conservative care. It is no care. My bet is that with aggressive muscle care she would improve quickly. Right now healing is taking place but it is with scar tissue not good tissue with the fibers lined up appropriately. If she continues down this road it will be remembered as the accident that ruined her life.
