Why Did Cops Detain Dupri?

TMZ obtained video of a traffic stop yesterday in West Hollywood. It shows Jermaine Dupri in the back of an L.A. County Sheriff's car.

Dupri's Lamborghini was near the squad car, doors wide open. After a while, deputies let Dupri leave. It is unclear if Dupri, Janet Jackson's fiance, was cited for anything. It is also unclear why deputies detained him, and why they let him drive away.

We contacted the Sheriff's Dept. West Hollywood substation but the watch commander had no info on the stop.

Dupri's peeps did not return our calls.

1. If he is on Probation (not sure if he is) then if he gets pulled over for any reason the cops have to search his car... thats in california... When my husband was on probation every time they pulled him over his car was searched... They would put him in te back seat of the cop car while they went through everything and if they didnt find anything they would let him go.

4. Its the cops hating again. Paris is going to jail so its time to start hating on blacks driving $250k cars. Thank you cops for wasting my tax money on this crap. You would think there would be no unsolved murders in LA with as much time as they spend harassing people and shooting rubber bullets into peaceful crowds. Chief Bratton, its time for you to go!

5. Probably checking to see if he was drunk...to their surprise he wasn't so they let him go. Wow a celebrity gets pulled over and does NOT get a DUI now that is SHOCKING.

11. Why is it when a minority is stopped by the cops it is racisim? Stop playing the race card...ya'll are acting like Paris Hilton by making excuses. Cops have the right to stop anyone for any reason at all. Deal with it.

12. Jermain Dupri is not on probation --- you never hear about him doing anything wrong. It may be hard for some of you to believe, but not all entertainers are criminals, only 99.0 percent of them.

it does get tiring to hear about the profiling every time someone gets in trouble--- not everyone does that, but it seems to be a popular defense!
