Isaiah Tries to Make Nice with the Gays

Click to return to TMZ.comSupposedly reformed gay-basher Isaiah Washington did a public service announcement for gay advocacy groups, but for an ad that stresses the importance of words, it didn't really say a whole lot.

Washington doesn't reference his "fa**ot" slur against "Grey's Anatomy" cast member directly -- saying only that using certain words sends "a message of hate" -- and overall, the takeaway from the ad is that words ... mean something! All the time! Bet Isaiah wishes he'd known this earlier!

Words, it seems, can also maybe cost you your job, as Washington's fate for next season on the hit ABC show is yet to be determined.

FIRE HIM...If the situation were reversed he would have been fired a long time ago. I have no tolerance for double standards in any situation. His words now are just damage control to save his A** and his J-O-B.

What is TMZ complaining about??? GLADD and other gay rights organizations were VERY involved with the content and production of the PSA and it's still not good enough? TMZ is showing more and more that it's not interested in reporting things fairly, once the staff of TMZ has a vendetta against you, i.e. Mel Gibson, Isaiah Washingtion, nothing you do to try to make ammends is never enough..... yet they're very happy to glorify Anna Nicole Smith, who was far from perfect or Paris Hilton. If you're going to play the morality police, you need to do it for EVERYONE!

Yep, If someone had used the "n" word it would have been over before the season was finished. They wouldn't have had the chance to leave they would have been gone. If you think there is a difference between the "n" word and the "f" word then you're the one with the problem.

I'm sure he's the first actor to use such a 'horrible' word. Those celebrities are usually so nice and never say anything degrading. It must be weird for Isaiah to be the first actor ever to use the word fa$$ot. I'm tired of people comparing race and sexual orientation as well. You don't wear your gayness all over your body. Well, unless you're a dude wearing high heels or something.

I am curious about how long Isaiah will have to apologize?! How much does he have to suffer? He got mad, called someone a name, was publicly humiliated, had to go to rehab and nearly lost his job and career. It is getting a little old and I think will eventually back-fire on the gay rights movement. Enough is enough. If Isaiah led an anti-gay rights movement, etc ..., I could understand the anger and punishment, but for goodness sake - leave the poor man in peace now. Maybe the gay rights movement should learn to forgive and rest easy in the knowledge that all of Hollywood will never call anyone a gay slur again. After the tar and feathering of poor Isaiah, no one would dare. It is time to leave poor Isaiah with what little dignity the gay rights movement has left him and move on to a new crisis. This one is dead!

Mr Washington,

If I were your publicist (or attorney) this would be my advice:

A. Keep your mouth shut

B. Stay out of the public eye

C. Pray

Not everyone cares for gay people so get over it already. People can't force this type of life on everyone. God made man and women and for those that think this is the only way so let it be.

I like his acting on Grey's but look what happened to IMUS. I liked him also. What is the difference? The poor poor minorities. Double standards when it's convenient for the other guy .
