Nick Cannon -- Breakthrough Actor?

Nick CannonIt's true! Nick Cannon, from MTV's "Wild 'N Out," is being honored today at the Cannes Film Festival. Apparently, someone feels that his performance in "Bobby" was groundbreaking -- and qualifies Canon as the "Breakthrough Actor of the Year."

That's quite an accomplishment for someone whose prior memorable moments include improv fart noises and "yo mama's so fat" jokes.

A legend in the making.

3. Damn, I saw Bobby and cant for the life of me remember what part he played. Guess he made a real dramatic impact on the casual observer of movies.

10. umm I think he should be awarded because he had crappy roles like LOVE DONT COST A THING plus BOBBY was like a drama type movie and I didnt belive he could do it and thats Wilmer Valderama who hosts the show YO MOMMA so CONGRATULATIONS Nick

11. Now that's funny but these awards shows are hype and not about talent. he will be long forgotten in 5 years; no doubt. not a talent but the fart noises are funny.

12. O.K. I am not a huge fan of his MTV show but I can appreciate the fact that he created, writes, and produces the show. I would hardly rush to judgement and call him talentless, especially when you consider that prior to that in his teens he was already writing for episodes of sketch comedies and sitcoms on Nickelodeon.
He has also written some of his movies. This guy works harder than a lot of young actors. Writing him off as a no talent would be a mistake even if you don't like what you've seen so far.

13. There is no such thing as a "breakthrough actor of the year" award at Cannes. Bobby is not showing in the festival. The awards - "les Palmaires" or Palms - for the films in competition will be given out Sunday.

You've taken the bait of some publicist's ploy to get Cannon some attention. TMZ should know better.
