Prince Charles and Prince Edward started to lose their hair at an early age - not so Prince Andrew though. William is obviously taking after his father's side of the family - shame :(

The bald gene is most assuredly from Williams' fathers' side ..look at Prince Phillip, Prince Edward, Prince Charles...the only one without a bald spot is Prince Andrew who is alleged to not be the natural son of Phillip, but of the Queens' former racing manager. Harry gets his red hair from Dianas' side as seen in her sister Sarah and her brother Charles. Possibly from James Hewitt but even he is losing his hair in the front.
