ALL I want to say to those who say hes ugly,creepy,scruffy,and hes no good for her HOW THE HELL WOULD YOU KNOW ,, great looking guys are.nt all there cracked up to be they normally love them selves and not there wives ,normal guys have respect and patience and tons of love to share with there one and only ,, get a life you guys

I love her...she has a great voice and she is very hot. I mean she looks great for her age she is the best well next to Celine Dion ;-)

The majority of posters must be very young. Popular culture has warped your values like never before. There is nothing wrong with the appearence of Bette's husband in the photo. He does not look like a "bum", but an average man on a hot day. If Bette had chose to marry a "rich man who looked like a chippendale" where do you think that marriage would be today? For all the star's sense of outrageous fun & camp, she is a wise, serious woman who has married well and made the correct choices in her personal life. Most of you who have commented project ugliness and are presently not making the world a positive place to live. Who can blame youth though? Modern media has completely destroyed impressionable people's values.

Bette's husband (Martin von Haselberg) is only about 58. Bette will be 62 in December. Since when is 58 OLD???!!!! Over 90 is old!!!!! Show respect for those older than yourselves. You'll be his age soon enough!!!!! Trust me on that!!!!! Bette and Martin have been married since around 1984...nearly 23 years. Kudos to Bette and Dolly for "trying" to keeping their private lives just that...private.

I think he is a little underdressed for the event. He was probably affended by the security guard and that was the first thing that came to mind in his defense. I am a devoted Bette fan but I do think it's his fault for not dressing up a little. This is his usual way of dressing though. He is an odd character but I'm sure an adoring and loving husband. Bette looked divine and he should have spiffed himself up too!

Too bad about the husband. I just have to say I have always loved the "Divine Ms. M". She did a concert in San Diego a few years back and it was amazing. She looked incredibly beautiful like the glamorous star she is. (I could see up close. She has flawless skin, absolutely radiant.) And, she never missed a note or a step or a good bawdy joke. I would let a million paparazzi push me around just to be her husband. If they asked me that question 'if you could have dinner with anyone alive or dead who would it be?' I would say Bette Midler. What a hoot that would be.

It was funny while it lasted. Still, I bet when hey met he was damn hot, and that would have been 20 or 30 years ago. Give the guy a break, I'm sure hes an awesome bloke.
