TMZ has learned that Carol Channing's prized "diamond dress" has been returned. Hallelujah!
TMZ spoke with a rep for the Hollywood Renaissance hotel who told us that a homeless Caucasian man -- a person completely not fitting the description of the person of interest caught on surveillance tape -- walked into the hotel lobby about an hour ago. The man approached a hotel security guard and handed over a bag containing the dress. The man told the guard that he found the dress in a plaid shopping bag in a park in Hollywood. He said he was a huge fan of Ms. Channing's and had heard about the stolen dress on the news, and felt the need to return it to her. That's karma, buddy!
We've learned Carol met with the man this evening, and even took a couple of pictures. No word on whether the man will receive a reward for the return.

Happens all the time- do a good deed- no reward- because no one can dish their hero cash- what not worth it? Doubt champ will get anything but a letter saying- oh yeah thanks- f these busy- too important peeps have the time. Fork over some of your chump change you bit!!!!!
someone needs to pay him something. the robber and this guy could have been together but at least they did not pluck the diamonds off.
That's GREAT!!! I'm so glad it's been returned. Cheers to the gentleman who returned the dress. He not only returned a piece of history, he restored my faith in people. Great job man!!
He BETTER get a reward. Not that everyone who performs a kind act should GET something but, hell, he's homeless! I'm sure she can afford to give him SOMEthing.

I knew it would be found this way who ever it was that stole it was looking for something in that case to make a quick buck and he couldnt do it with that dress. he may of given it to the homeless man to take back well Carol knew the dress would come home and it did, she is a very postive person and she is so sweet. on post 6 the creepy hand is the theft grabbing for the dress.
She better give him a reward..she should give him a year rent free apartment, and a years worth of groceries....how did he get the dress anyway? i guess he probably was with the robber.
