Community Wants No Prison Break for Lane Garrison

If they really wanted to send a message, then Lindsay Lohan wouldn't be walking around free.

Neither would many of the Hollywood celebrities.

Lane has shown more contrition and remorse than the other celebs caught drinking and driving, he's served his time, and he has to forever live with the fact that someone's dead because of him...he should be let out and given a second chance.

Hey, Here's an idea Kids.....don't get into cars driven by drunk people! Lane did the crime & should definitely do the time, but I am so sick of these people making the kids looks so innocent. Stupid kids think they are invincible. Vahagan did a stupid and irresponsible thing by getting into the car with someone that had been partying. This should be a huge message that the kids should be getting!

ALthough it is very sad that this young person is gone, I feel for her family. No parent should have to deal with this. However, she at 17 got into the car with a person who had been drinking and doing drugs. I am in no way at all blaming the victim, not at all. This is something I have drilled into my 19 year old daughters brain since she was about 15 - do NOT get into a car with someone who has been drinking or doing drugs, you could be killed. Unfortunately this time a young person was killed. Parents need to drill this into our children's brains over and over again. SHould Mr. Garrison do his time absolutely, but hopefully in the future teenagers will think twice before getting into a car with someone who has been drinking/drugging.

I feel for the victims family however at the same time I feel for Lane because he does have to live with this the rest of his life. He should definitely be punished to a certain extent however 6 years is a bit excessive given the remorse you can tell he feels. I agree with the others, people need take responsibility - DON'T get into a car with someone that has been drinking! All parties involved in this accident were in the wrong. It is easy to sit back and judge Mr. Garrison however think about times you may have been out while you were young and thought you were invincible and should not have driven or taken a ride for someone. I understand the victims family wants revenge however it is a tragic accident and no matter what the sentence it will not bring the victim back.

...I would hate to see this guy go to prison for such a long time....BUT....so many r't getting the message !!...he shouldn't be used unfairly...I don't know the laws in California..but I also agree with OCD that MANY others shouldn't be allowed behind wheels right now and nothing is happening to them...they seem to get off just casue they didn't kill someone..

I do agree with much of what you have said.

There is enough responsibility for everyone. He shouldn't have driven drunk, he shouldn't have allowed underage kids to drink.

BUT, those kids apparently knew he was drunk and they shouldn't have gotten into the car with him. They did so because they wanted to party with a celeb and to share their time in the bright lights.

In this case, they should have packed up their underage ditties and gone home. Those bright lights were the proverbial train in the tunnel.

Everyone involved shares the blame. I feel horrible for the kids who lost their lives and their parents. But, sadly, the fact that they died doesn't mean that they were blameless in the ultimately tragic outcome.

A kid is dead because Lane Garrison drove drunk. What if he would have run down someone outside of the car, who woul you blame then? Don't blame the dead kid.
