Brit Under Investigation by LAPD

11/2/2007 4:13 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the LAPD is conducting an investigation into a traffic mishap Friday, when Britney Spears ran over an L.A. County Sheriff deputy's foot.
Britney Spears
We're told the "traffic collision complaint" was filed by the Sheriff's Department and the LAPD is conducting an "active investigation." We're told the LAPD is looking at the possibility of hit and run.

The incident occurred as Brit was leaving the L.A. County Courthouse after her custody hearing.

UPDATE: The LAPD tells TMZ "The LAPD is aware that Britney Spears was leaving the courthouse. We are also aware that a deputy was injured. The LAPD is unable to confirm the details on the deputy's injury because the investigation is in its initial stage."

The court will have to order it before Britney hires a limo driver. She has custody hearings set all the way up to April 2008. She’ll be spending lots of time at the court house with all the law suits, driving infractions and who knows what for the future. Most of know she has a low level of intelligence and virtually no formal education like most of us. When she has to make important decisions, she chooses not to even think about what the consequences will be. I believe it was an accident that the cops foot was ran over. With all the commotion, I doubt that she knew that it happened. So … the court should step up and order her to hire a limo driver for public safety.

calling it like i see it

Only in L.A. would this warrant an investigation. Taxpayers money used to investigate a cops foot getting run over. She's obviously too close to the car, Britney couldn't hear her screaming turn left, what a waste of money and time.

Maybe these people should keep away from moving cars. What are they? Stupid?

#65 PR... i agree...everyone wants to jump on the band wagon that the cop should have gotten out of the way... okay, let her fend for herself... she wants to be so irresponsible then by all means step on out there. Put that tax money somewhere where its needed.

She doesn't have a driver because every person that works for her runs to the tabloids and sells any sort of fabricated story. She doesn't feel like she can trust anyone. Duh.

the only good use for the death penalty! sounds like a careless driving tkt to me.

The police should consider charging the people standing so close and flashing bulbs in her face. There should be some criminal offense they can be charged with.

get over it

Of course the LAPD has to investigate this! The deputy was injured on the job, so it's a workers comp case.

Britney needs to hire a driver when she goes to court because it's going to be like this each and every time.

Why doesn't everyone get AWAY from her car when it's moving? They are all so STUPID and they deserve to get their foot run over.

If you do not want to get hit or have your foot run over---common sense, back up from the vehicle. Not to metntion, would any of us be able to drive with cameras in our face, or people all over our vehicle. PLEASE, cut her some slack already.

#3--TMZ critic--are you for real? You blame TMZ for Britney running over a cop's foot? What planet are you on? Do you think maybe Britney is to blame? Or maybe it's the cops fault, for reporting it. Yeah, that's it. Get real--the woman needs to hire a driver. She does this all to herself. And if you are a critic of TMZ--why do you read it?
