Donda's Surgeon -- I'm the Victim of "Sleaze"

Plastic surgeon Dr. Jan Adams has told TMZ that he was the doctor who performed cosmetic surgery on Kanye West's mother Donda before she died.

Dr. Adams told TMZ her death, which followed a tummy tuck and breast reduction, was unforeseen and could have been caused by a heart attack, pulmonary embolism, or massive vomiting.

Dr. Adams tells us West consulted with him over a period of four months. He says she changed her mind numerous times, sometimes greenlighting the surgery and sometimes halting it.

As for the TMZ report that Beverly Hills doctor Andre Aboolian refused to conduct the surgery because of a medical condition that West had, Dr. Adams said of Dr. Aboolian, "He is sleazy and manipulating the truth to elevate his own importance."

Dr. Adams says he did nothing wrong.

46.
Dr. Jan Adams should have taken the patients hesitancy as a sign to not perform the surgery.
The patient also ignored her own gut feeling and another doctors warning to not have the surgery..
If Dr. Aboolian refused as he says and there is no reason for him to lie then it dose elevate his importance! it says he is the better doctor.

47. Didn't this guy used to play Issac the bartender on Love Boat? Who knew he became a doctor.

48. to the person who said he's a ghetto doctor...what exactly makes him ghetto? being black? She wanted a breast reduction, something MANY women at her age want if they are very well endowed. I dont see how that makes her vain. having a patient die due to complications? Like this doesnt happen to thousands of patients a year from EVERY type of race of doctors..wtf...do some research. I'm not a doctor but i do work in a medical practice and am licensed to perform some procedures...........as i said when i commented #16...it can happen to anyone, anywhere. It's not ALWAYS someones fault.

49. Dr. Aboolian was right to have Donda West get clearance from an internist first before surgery. Whenever a person has any kind of illnesses dealing with the heart, they would have to get clearance from an internist first before proceeding with Cosmetic Surgery. Secondly, massive vomiting would only come if she ate within the 12 hour period. What? Did Dr. Adams tell her it was ok to eat within that 12 hour period before surgery? Not only that, but Dr. Adams only saw money. He knew she was to have clearance from an internist first if he ran simple tests with blood pressure and the ekg and saw that she had some noticeable problems.

Dr. Adams is guilty! However, he thinks he's covered because she signed a waiver of complication of surgery. He still performed negligence by not having her get clearance from an internist first!

50. He looks alot like a doctor that is on one of TLC or Discovery's Plastic Surgery: Before and After. If she changed her mind as many times as he said she did, she probably should have had a psych clearance before he went through with the surgery. My thoughts are with Kanye and his family. It's bad enough that we spend so much money and suffer pain for our vanity, but to pay the ultimate price...

51. The warning signs should of been when the doc starting bringin down prices on his products. (on his website)

This doctor should of taken more exams on his patient.. if this statement is true::
Beverly Hills doctor, Andre Aboolian, refused to conduct the surgery because of a medical condition that West had,......

then Dr Adam
should of conducted more TESTS!

To me the doctor is at fault.

52. ....100%..she would have signed a consent form knowing the risks, everyone has to by law....IF she had a KNOWN heart condition the other Doctor didn't want to operate...( can't remember his name )..then this Doctor accepted her and she signed the paperwork. This won't become a legal issue at all, UNLESS ( for example)..she had something left in her body from the surgury which was the Docors fault...the Doctor has NO control over how her heart pumps, and how her blood coagulation works....again, speculation....

53. Are you guys kidding me?? What's with all the dumb questions as to why the guy is smiling? This is obviously a "head shot" taken to advertise for his practice or something. My boss has the same type of photo that he uses when he places an ad for our practice in the newspaper or local journals, etc. And if he were not associated with something tragic like this, then most of you would be saying he is an attractive man (which he is). Why is his smile creepy all of a sudden?

I am not black but spare me the "thank god he's black" stuff otherwise Kanye will sue. He will likely sue anyway as would most people. I still wonder if it was really something the doc did wrong. I thought the latest story was that she actually made it home then went unconscious. So for some reason, EVERYONE at the facility thought she was stable to go home (if that is the case). Trust me, the last thing a doctor needs on their hands is the death of anyone, but (and I know this sounds really bad) but especially a famous person (or relative thereof). How do you think the docs felt about losing John Ritter or Robert Goulet most recently.

This is a terrible waste of a good life and a good woman but an autopsy will tell the tale very soon.

54. Not withstanding what Mrs. West's surgeon , Dr. Jan Adams says;perhaps more caution or precaution should precede these types or other types of surgieries in the future? I'm certain America mourns the passing of Kayne's most precious Mom. Signed a man named Harry

55. It's sad that a life lost more than likely due to negligence on the part of the doctor. In our society people place too much trust in doctor's and believe whatever they say as if they are God. They are not. They make mistakes. I feel for the decedent who went in for procedures that most of Hollywood has, only to end up dead. Her death did not have to occur and probably would have not occurred if the proper precautions, tests, were taken. Perhaps this will shed more like into the area of cosmetic surgeries and tighten the regulatons in this area. Many doctors are drawn to this area for the money, but operate on humans like they're guinea pigs. I hope that Kanye and his family get to the bottom of Ms. West's senseless death. This is not case of black or white, but a case of negligence. We need to hold the medical profession to a higher standard.....especially since we place so much trust in doctors. Not to mention how much health and medical treatments cost. Who would want go in for any procedure and not come out alive?

56. Looks like most of you don't watch Discovery Health. Dr. Adams is a prominent top notch Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Harvard educated. He's not a quack . And for all the stupid remarks about the picture, this picture wasn't taken as an adjunct to this story. It's a great happy picture. I am sorry Donda died so young but things do happen. Some people have died after having a tooth pulled . For the remark not believing one could die from vomiting-too much vomiting could result in dehydration leading to electrolyte imbalances leading to heart arrythmia. His program is all about choosing the right doctor, telling the truth about your history etc.. I think the one guy is right that once deceased HIPPA doesn't apply. But some of you are lambasting this man without knowing a thing about him. You're on a computer. For cripes sake, look it up.

57. Ignatius reilly: Maybe jan is pronounced "yawn" like the composer Jan Hammer (the guy that did Miami Vice theme, etc. He could be of foreign parents or whatever. Then again, it could just be Jan the old-fashioned way like Jan-Michael Vincent. Just thought I'd throw that out there.....

58. I wouldn't let that greasy grinning bag of guts make me a sandwich, let alone perform surgery on me.

# 51Diamond

who is the dummy who came onto TMZ and got all worked up about some
comments? After all you said yourself this is just a gossip site yet
you seem to be the one most emotionally wraped up tight here.
Why come here and worry about what this site is saying?
You reduce the importance of those who visit and post on TMZ then whine it has to power to destroy doctor's rep!. What world are you from? Mad Hatter's?
No one forced the doctor to make a statement! Expect replys Idiot!

60. At this point no one knows what caused her passing. It may very well be that the Dr. did nothing wrong, but his defensive response doesn't paint him in a positive light at all.

I just cannot believe that a Harvard educated, renowned professional would resort to using to name calling and using the term "sleazy" to address another physician. He may have felt the need to respond (and may have been right to), but I can think of many other ways that he could have done so with class, professionalism and compassion. He seems to be solely focused on himself and not at all on the fact that a woman died.
