Daniel Smith Inquest Back in Session

The inquest into the death of Anna Nicole's son resumed today in the Bahamas, with new testimony about how the former Playmate traveled with a cache of drugs in a Coach duffel bag.


Ford Shelley, a South Carolina real estate developer who once rented a house to Anna, testified today that when Anna came to visit, he and his wife found methadone in her luggage.

He also said on the stand that she had the drug in both tablet and liquid form, and that Anna Nicole traveled with a Coach duffel bag filled with drugs, although he admits he never "saw Anna personally take any of the medication."

Shelley called Daniel "a brilliant" and "awesome" kid who loved his mother, but found it difficult to deal with her fame.

Smith died in September of 2006 while visiting his mother in the Bahamas after she delivered his half sister Dannielynn. A coroner's inquest into his death was requested by the Bahamian government, although an independent autopsy commissioned by Daniel's family determined the cause of death to be an accidental overdose.

78. I believe Howard K. Stern did not intentionally murder Daniel, but I do feel his negligence cause his demise. As far as Larry Birkhead is concerned, some of you keep stating that he needs to stop partying, yada yada yada... He was doing this before he knew Anna, during his relationship with Anna, and now after her death. He doesn't have to sit home and mourn for the rest of his life. He is taking care of their daughter and is allowed to live his life the way he wants as long as it isn't hurting Dannielynn.

79. I think Ford Shelley and his wife should have and would have checked Anna's bags if they found her to be very high, especially if HKS was anywhere around.

80. Shelley and his wife were in the habit of unpacking her bags? WTH? That right there makes me suspicious of his testimony. Why were they even in her bags, let alone unpacking them?

Anna was swarmed and haunted by the Pap; both with cameras and ugly stories about her. And, that public cruxifiction of her became a circus after Danny's death. The paparazzi did have a hand in her death with the cold and callous things they said, which pushed Anna only deeper into depression. The pap knew it hurt Anna deepely, but they didn't care one bit.......it's all about the gossip mill and making millions off the pain and suffering of others!

84. I don't understand why everyone is confused. Anna Nicole was a major drug abuser.... Howard was basically her middle man, or even her drug dealer at times (probably). This explains why they were so dependent on each other. Anyway, Daniel knew this (how could he not?) and probably either a.) stole some from her (like she would even notice anyway) or b.) she gave him some. Either way, he died from it. Closed book. THE END. Nobody intentionally killed him. Howard is too much of a pu**y to do something like that.

There is no need for any investigation - if Daniel had lived any longer he probably would have ended up with a drug problem like his mother anyway. They were a very troubled family and in the end payed the ultimate consequence.

The situation is pretty black and white to me!!

87. Unlike the US the bahama gov. controlls their paps behavior. HKS ate the paps up anyway. He also knew of the drugs, got the drugs, administered the drugs at times. Do you still not see a pattern here?

88. Anna was a lovely woman who was "lost" and constantly searching for her identity. The love she had for her children was blatantly apparent in every photo with both Daniel and Dannielynn. It is simply a sad ending to a dysfunctional family.
