Sorry folks but should we mention the REST of the people who decided that using DRUGS is the answer to curing life's problems.It sends the wrong meesage plus most people didn't know who the hell he was until after his last night of his life when he decided to use HEROIN which last time I checked is against the law.

We only honor the living junkies and the dead junkies who could act.

why is it about brad? They also left out Roy Scheider, whose omission should be questioned more due to the number of films and awards he received.

The press is a joke. Brad died of a drug overdose, so they are trying to stir the pot- get a freaking life!

Hey mitzi--YOU ARE A COMPLETE IDIOT. Heath Ledger died AFTER Renfro. Also, didn't you see the dates when they did the memorandam? YOU ARE THE ONE THAT DOESN'T GET IT. Get a life and stop acting like you know it all--YOU ARE COMPLETE IDIOT. Regardless of how Renfo killed himself, he should have been included.

I'm kinda tired of this whole renfro oscar thing. The memoriam part of the oscars is mainly done for people who have died who had either won an oscar, or had been nominated for an oscar in the past. Yes, they'd make exceptions for a few very big stars who had never won or been nominated but rarely. Renfro died young and it's very sad. But let's face the grief head on and quit finding targets like the oscars to vent at.

The roy scheider thing was NOT a snub. At the start of the "in memoriam" it stated very clearly that the deaths being covered went up until the end January 2008. Roy died in February 2008. For reasons I don't know this montage was set up before he died and they couldn't or wouldn't change it. It wasn't a snub. I'm sure he'll get a big spot in the montage next year kids.

I frankly tend to think he pissed somebody off in the Academy, who proceeded to block his inclusion for whatever reason. Someone said the tribute was only for those who were past Oscar winners or nominees, so if that is true, that would be the reason. I find that hard to believe though. If that were the case, why didn't the Academy say that, instead of saying they didn't have enough time to include him? What a cop out! Any current or former actor who died within that time frame should have been included, and that would include Renfro.

Renfro started out as a young child star from a very troubled background. That's fresh meat dangled in front of a good many of these Academy types. I have this idea that Brad, being very streetwise, quickly learned the art of saying "no", and unfortunately it cost him a spot in the tribute.
