Mrs. Wentz: If you were so well educated you'd see the flaw in your argument. The Quaid children did not suffer due to the mistake of one, which is human and understandable, but instead due to the mistake of at least 3 people in a system set up with redundancies to avoid exactly these type of mistakes. Multiply that by two, as the mistake was made with both babies, and it shows a complete breakdown in the system of checking and double checking and a culture of laziness in the same, at that hospital. The culture at the hospital is clearly not one that puts a premium on the required checks and rechecks. That, and not the fact that 1 person can make 1 mistake, is what is criminal in this case.
By the way, if you're an RN in any state, God help your patients if your best defense is a vicious attack.
Sam-----what twisted logic you use. Would it be better for you to run someone over and run away, leaving them to die? One would assume you didn't intend to hit them, so if you had an ACCIDENT and came to someones aid and saved their life them I'd imagine they'd be pretty freaking grateful. Apparently it makes no difference to you.
Mistakes are made on a daily basis in hospitals around the country and world. Where the hell are the people giving Kudos to those who saved their lives? Far more lives are saved and helped by people around the world in the medical field than harmed.
Heparin is a very safe drug. The half life of heparin is very short and unless they had an immediate life threatening event from the overdose then they should be fine.
Since you're on your high horse, YOU go into a hospital and make a mistake. It takes a great deal of courage to admit you've failed at something, and if it hadn't been for the doctors and nurses and ancillary staff at that hospital those children could have fared much worse.
Thank God their precious babies are safe. Hospitals need to be held responsible for their mistakes. Just saying people make mistakes isn't enough.
Very ironic that they would complain about the medical care, the need for which was caused by them using a surrogate to create a litter of test tube preemies.
WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH THEM. THE CHILDREN ARE SAFE. GO ON WITH YOUR LIFE. EVIDENTLY HE NEEDS SOME PRESS.
It was an unfortunate mistake, but why do they want the drug itself recalled? The drug was fine, it just wasn't the one the nurse was supposed to administer to those particular patients. So they will sue the manufacturers for... what? For manufacturing a drug that saves millions of lives and, if administered to someone who does not need it, can harm? Just like pretty much every other drug known to man? Come on.
Nice way to get your face in the news - disgusting.
Im glad the babies are okay. But Dennis Quaid is still one major jerk, drinking too much and screwing around on his wife. And I can't believe he spent NYE at the Playboy mansion instead of at home with his babies. Yuck!
December 2003 my daughter went to a hospital for a procedure on her leg. She ended up on life support and her brain swelled and ruptured 3 days later. They even messed up on the tests that determined her brain dead. The Quaids were lucky. Someone told them what happened. They are very blessed their babies are alive and well. Over 4 years later I'm still waiting for the doctors to tell me and my family the truth about what they did to her. A trial date has been set for January 2009 but the only thing that means is that they have another 9 months to postpone it again.
My daughter was an organ donor. Five women are still alive because a young woman made her family aware that if anything were to ever happen to her, she wanted others to have a healthy life.
I'm glad his babies are ok too. I feel sorry for them and his wife. Agreed he's a major jerk. He hit on a friend of mine not too long ago in a bar. She had a great comeback. Told him she didn't do old married men. The look on his face was priceless. Don't get why his wife takes this crap off of him.
why were the babies given the drug anyway? maybe i just didnt read very throughlllly or whatever
"why were the babies given the drug anyway"?
they were in the hospital being treated for a staph infection. the twins should have been given heplock to flush out their iv's instead of heparin.
Britney Spears might miss a lot more 'X Factor' auditions ... because she can! Simon Cowell gave Brit damn near free reign in order to sign the pop star to that $15 million deal -- but is it backfiring? We'll tell you what peeps on the set are saying.Plus, Chris Jericho's…
