Celebrity Justice
Lindsay to Liquor Industry: You're Full of Schlitz

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan is on the attack after the liquor industry splashed a full-page ad in USA TODAY, crapping on Ignition interlock devices which keep drunk drivers off the road.

The ad, published in USA TODAY, claims the devices are good for Lindsay (showing her mug shot), but not for the rest of us.

Lindsay's mega-lawyer, Blair Berk, issued this statement to TMZ:

"USA TODAY is idiotic for running such an irresponsible advertisement, suggesting that drinking and driving is some kind of American 'tradition' we should protect. Not identifying that this ad was paid for by the liquor industry is profoundly reckless.

Drunk, old, white businessmen, drunk cougars out for girls night out, and drunk wedding parties should be kept off the roads of America. Lindsay Lohan fully endorses ignition interlock devices that have been well-proven to save lives."

BTW, we're told Lindsay has already hired lawyers to determine if the ad violates the trademark laws, which prohibit businesses from using someone's pic for commercial gain without their consent.

And the liquor industry hiding behind some bogus company (Interlockfacts.com) because it knows it's wrong. Nice touch.

50. If this ad is in support of drinking and driving then it should be pulled asap, period. What morons!

51. The whole point of the ad is to drink responsible and don't drive drunk. In that case you won't need the device. Linds obviously does. Hence, the ad. Funny as Hell

52. They make too big a deal about drinking and driving. I say live and let live, not your business what other people do.

55. I am not a fan of Lohan, but the use of her picture without permission by a group hiding behind a false front is wrong.
Her lawyers released this quote today. "Drunk white businessmen, drunk housewives out for girls night out and drunk wedding parties should be kept off the roads of America. Lindsay Lohan fully endorses ignition interlock devices, which have been well-proven to save lives."
They actually made her look better, and their side look stupid. What the liquor industry is upset about(go to their site) is a suggestion that all cars have a breatherlizer attached so that you have to use them before you can drive. I don't ever see that happenng, but what is the big deal? If you are not driving drunk, who cares?(except for the added cost to the vehicle)

56. QUOTE;"They make too big a deal about drinking and driving. I say live and let live, not your business what other people do.

Are you kidding me? I have had 3 family members killed by a drunk country club drinker! I guess it would not be your business if your Mother, Brother, Wife or Child was killed by a drunk driver, Or would that be live and let live?

57. Is her spokesperson black? Why else would the statement be put out there that drunk drivers are "white businessmen'? WTF? What the hell does race have to do w/it? The spokesperson needs a foot in their ass!

58. Doesn't matter who she is, using her photo without consent is wrong. If the judge had wanted to humiliate her more he would have made an ad in regard to alcohol awareness part of her sentence/community service. He didn't. So this company deserves to have it's ass sued off.

59. Trademark law would not be applicable. It would be an invasion of privacy/appropriation of image for commercial gain court claim.

60. JD, do you think TMZ or Perez or anyone of them had her persmission to post this mugshot on their page?? They all did it. It's a fine line and it's for the law to decide but the mugshot was in magazines, on websites and pretty much all over the place. Thats the problem with mugshots. Public record. It will all boil down to if they are using her picture for profit. Looks like their not. Just as a warning of what not to do.
