Nas -- It's Still Called "N*****," N****s!

As if anyone cared at this point, Nas idiotically insists the "real" title of the disc is still "N*****," even though his label says they ain't calling it that anymore.

Def Jam's story, according to EW.com, is that Mr. Kelis' latest will now be called "Nas," despite the big to-do over the name. Def Jam honcho L.A. Reid, contrary to reports, recently said Nas could call the damn thing whatever he wanted.

The best title of all might be untitled -- as in no album at all, especially after all this n-sense.

1. FIRST! (atleast while I'm typing this I am)...

It's okay for black folk to say that word - but not us whites.......double standard.....I think nobody should say the word.

2. I'm glad that DEF JAM finally took a stand on this idiotic behavior.

Nas is a has-been who only wants to drum up controversy for what I'm sure is a less than stellar project by naming it such an inflammatory word.

I could not believe this fool was at a music awards show accompanied by different races of women all sporting N-Word t-shirts!

He most definitely does not speak for me as a man of color!

Just like clockwork I've noticed the first post in this thead references White angst over not beign allowed to freely use the N-word?!?!?

I pose this question: "Why is it so important for you to say it?"

Honestly, if you sit back and really think about why you want to say it, I think you'll confront some issues you are harboring regarding your own racist/discriminatory thought process.

As a man of color, I NEVER feel the need to call any other race a racially offensive term, so why do you feel such a strong need to use the word?

If you seriously ask yourself the question, you'll see that you're probably more racist than you are willing to admit to at least in this environment.

4. Thanks Nas,

Way to set black folks back. To think I actually thought you had some intelligence (back in 1999 or so). Now you just seem to want to stir the pot to cause controversy/sell some records. Don't you have enough money? It's time to grow up and let go of your slave-like mentality. You've been out of the ghetto for quite some time now.

5. How I feel is that the words of racist remarks to other culture's aren't necessary. God made us all black, arabic, caucasion, spanish, etc. YOU get the point. I agree with Writermind. Why do you feel the need to say it at all? just because their are people that do it doens't mean you can or should.......Somebody jumps from a bridge you gonna do that too??? Just curious!!!!!!! However, anybody doing it doesn't make it right.

6. I use that word all the time. What's the big deal?!?

Posted at 10:38AM on May 20th 2008 by Kelli

7. Ok Kelli Use the word as much as you want .Beware you better use it around the right crowd cause if someone takes it as degrading or disrespectful you most likely wont have anymore lips on your face to say anything after they smack them suckers off or worse yet. 2008 and I see we have A new breed of KKK members instead of hiding under sheets like the cowards they are they hide behind a computer screen lol Oh well....guess they're not as dumb as we think they are, cause in actuality they know If they were to say this in the company of any miniority group and call them A deragatory name they wouldn't make it out of that establishment alive. Stop suffering from the Hate disease it dumbs you down and makes you ignorant beyond belief get well soon Racist!

8. There are only a small portion of the African-American community that still calls themselves "N****a".

Most folks have most past this cause ENLIGHTEND people know, whether said with an "a" or an "er" on the end, it is still the perpetration of a negative word - designed to degrade another human being.

White folks get all excited stating that "you guys call each other that and it's okay", WELL THE TRUTH is ---- NO WE ALL DON'T, AND IT's NOT OKAY.

There are always some people who continue to say - "that's how it is in the 'hood where I grew up" - in the mean time they get into their Bentley and drive over to their home in Malibu. They are still trying to pimp a world that they don't belong to...and won't let it go.

As a man thinketh - so is He!

9. P.S. Nas lost his heat that he use to have. Quite frankly i heard his new single and the first verse sounded like he was trying to go somewhere and educated and enlighten but the 2nd verse made it weak and unorignal when he went to rapping about unnessecary violence. Nas it's been done before go sit down in the corner and call it a Day you media attention craving whore. Maybe sit back and help your wife revive her non existant music career.....

10. You self-proclaimed "whites" are real ignorant. It's called context. If a two year old walks into a store and shouts, "I've got a bomb" no one cares, but if a grown man in a turban runs in and shouts "I've got a bomb" everyone cares. If a black man runs into a naccp rally and shouts "I'm gonna kill all the n@#@$" people laugh. If a while man runs into a naacp rally and shouts, "I'm gonna kill all the n@#@$" people start running. CON-TEXT. White people killed and murdered and tortured millions of blacks for hundreds of years and used the term in a very racially hateful way. So when a white person says "N#$%" it's just not right. The Germans understand this. They are very scared of using racially-charged insignias and terms. But for some reason the self-proclaimed "whites" of america don't give a #@$# and want the right to use the word n@#$3. That's just downright d@%n scary....

11. Diva, the only one oozing racism on this post is you! You my dear, are coupling all whites in the same category by simply stating "they" or "them" and, your first sentence clearly states the use of violence towards another person of a different color. So, I ask you, "who is the racist here"?

14. What is funny is that this clown actually thinks he is making a statement..All its making him look like is a dang fool..Nas always pretends to be smart..He really is a ignorant f**k and this just proves it...I guess he is keeping it real...I laugh at black people like this..losers

Posted at 12:19PM on May 20th 2008 by Nas is a loser

15. All so silly.
It is a racially-charged word that no one should use anymore.
Kelly does not ask for permission for Whites to use it because Nas does; Kelly ponders why anyone does, including its use by any person who consider the racially-charged word to be offensive to his or her self when used by anyone else including Whites. Hence a double standard.
I've never understood how an ethnically or racially offensive term becomes "okay" or a even term of endearment when used within the affected ethnic or racial group. No rationalization I've ever heard or read makes any sense. Use within the affected ethnic or racial group is demeaning and saps the credibility, posture and moral persuasiveness of anyone of any race, color or creed who rightfully insists it's a slur. It's disempowering for all of us, even within a ethnic or racial group. So why does anyone do this? I'm sure the Germans don't lovingly say around the house " yer my N*zi". Jewish folks don't lovingly call each other " k***s". (BTW "Goy*m" for Gentiles technically is a term of derision, if you look it up.) Nas is just being irresponsible and perpetuating a slur. If he isn't, somebody please explain why.
Thanks.
