Rupert Everett: An Army of Dumb

6/8/2008 12:30 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Rupert EverettWhy can't egocentric actors just learn to shut their mouths?

English idiot Rupert Everett just bashed British soldiers by saying, "They are always whining about the dangers of being killed. Oh my God, they are such whimps now!"

Unfortunately, he continued on. "The whole point of being the Army is wanting to get killed, wanting to test yourself to the limits," he told the Telegraph. "Now you have to fly 15,000 ft. above the war zone to avoid getting hit. I don't think there is any point in having wars if that's how you're going to behave. It's pathetic. All this whining!"

Because it's real tough being an actor.

UPDATE: Everett must have realized how dumb he sounded, because he has since apologized for his remarks.

What timing.

Three British soldiers were killed in Afghanistan this weekend. Their tally of troops killed in that country has reached 100, each one a cherished life-- a son, a brother, a boyfriend, fiance, lover, or school mate.

Rupert Everett is appallingly insensitive. Let's show him what we think about his callous disregard for the lives of his own countrymen.

Hahaha! Brits always go on about how sophisicated their humor is compared to the US. Ummmm,,,,,no! Benny Hill and that dufus Mr. Bean are just a few good examples of how low brow brit humor really is. Lots of pratfalls, dressing up like women, spilling things and making a mess......oh, SO hilarious! No irony there...just stupid slapstick that most kids in the US roll their eyes at by the 4th grade.

Yes, they have slapstick and we in the US have Adam Sandler who makes millions making jokes about bodily functions and leg humping. Each side of the pond has low brow humor. Now, (Logic 101 here, stay with me) that does not negate the fact the the English are known ALSO and SEPARATELY for humor which is sarcastic, ironic, dry and deadpan to such an extent that Americans usually miss it completely even in casual conversation and interaction. If you doubt it, go to the U.K. It's actually quite an education - missing all the irony in casual conversation - to go there and learn just how different our cultures are. It's a wake up call, if you travel, to learn how rare in the world is the American value of being extremely direct, extremely literal, direct eye contact, blunt to the point of being considered rude in most other countries, etc. Good or bad, It gives great insight in to why we are considered rude in many countries.

Now show all of us that you are a real man, and apologize to any that you have offended. Then dedicate some time and energy to supporting those who defend your right to choose your lifestyle.

Bell: How is a Brit's lifestyle defended by his country's troops attacking and occupying a country which did not attack 1st, made no threats to do so, and in which the UK, along with the US, spent 20 years propping up and backing a murderous regime? How does that defend a Brit's right to choose his lifestyle? If anything, it simply makes him a target of retaliation.

Everybody should refuse to go to this dumb rat b*stard's movies. It's no wonder that a lot of people have nothing but contempt for most actors. The majority of them are uneducated & low class people who happened to get lucky & are now rich & bored with too much time on their hands & think they need to tell the great unwashed public how to think & how to live their lives. I'm so sick & tired of hearing about how they're going to save the world, environment etc & how we all need to sacrifice while they run around in their private jets & limos.
