Mormons Slam Calendar's Missionary Position

7/10/2008 3:45 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Who knew a bunch of shirtless Mormon hunks could lead to so much drama?! Don't get your magic underwear in a bunch!
Mormon Docs: Click to read
TMZ has obtained a letter sent to Chad Hardy, the Mormon creator of the steamy Men on a Mission calendar, by the LDS church -- threatening disfellowship or excommunication for "conduct unbecoming a member." Coincidence? Chad thinks not.

Hot Mormons: Click to launchHardy tells TMZ he believes he's being targeted for the 12-monther -- but admits he doesn't attend church meetings or pay his tithing. He also believes his repentance will include closing up shop on the calendar, which he ain't ready to do. Save me Joseph Smith!

For their part the Church refuses to comment on the whole thing, "out of respect for the member himself."

We're guessing they won't like his next idea either -- Mormon Muffins: A Taste of Motherhood.

UPDATE: On July 13, Chad Hardy was officially excommunicated for "conduct unbecoming a member of the church."

OH and FYI....

Tithing is kept at each ward house to pay the bills for that particular building, etc.
You can have family parties at any stake house, weddings even funerals for FREE!
They donate to disaster relief areas all around the world.
They give milk, eggs, cheese, bread and wheat to WHOM EVER needs it. That means member or not.
AND, now hears the real kicker, listen up those of you who judge but don't educate yourselves.... they give money to those who need it.... yuuuuuuuuuuupppppppppp. If i couldn't pay my rent this month, I could go up to my bishop and he would pay that for me AAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD ask me if there was any other bill I needed help with and for however many months until I was on my feet.

There are so many good things the church does, but you closed minded folk, you just keep those minds closed and your eyes for that matter.

Don't get me wrong, LDS is a rich rich religion, but they help others in need and never ask to be re-paid.

I recall getting handed a basket at my cousins catholic baptism and being asked to drop some funds in it.... what the hell is that if not tithing.

You stupid stupid people....
wasn't this about a stupid calendar that, by the way, if you don't want, don't by it?

I have been a member of the LDS church for nearly 40 years. I am a seminary graduate, a return missionary, married in the temple, and have held many callings in many wards around the country (being an Army wife). I considered my testimony unshakeable, having weathered many trials of faith. A situation a few years ago, though, caused me to take a much better look at what I believe and why, and progressively led me to parts of LDS history and doctrine I had never heard of before. Those revelations, and current church policies that I could no longer sustain, led me realize the what the LDS church professes to be is false. It is not the one and only church of Jesus Christ on the earth today. It is not led by a prophet of God. It is led by 15 old men who do the best they can, but make policies diguised as revelations that hurts as many people as they help.

I am not a bitter ex-Mormon, I am not "sinning", I haven't been offended, I basically lead the same life I led as a believer. The church is full of wonderful people, many of them my own relatives. But I know that the church is false, and although I fully understand the word is offensive to all believing members of the church, it does include many cult-like practices. A person is only able to see those clearly when they stand on the outside. Profound spiritual feelings can help comfort us, but they are a poor basis to establish the truth of something, as ALL religions have members that have experienced sometimes overwhelming spiritual experiences. The LDS church doesn't corner the market on those, although they would like you to believe that somehow the spiritual feelings it's members feel are "more" true.

As far as the calendar goes, I can see why the church is upset over it. It's embarrassing to them, and appearance is everything to the LDS church. Deny it if you will, but it's true.

MORMONS are not POLYGAMISTS and are NOT tied to warren jeffs. there are standards by which we are supposed to conduct our lives and that def does not involve multiple wives. if this guy is in trouble, it is because he is not doing what he is supposed to do. I find it sad its even public knowledge. If the catholic church was mad at some no body porn star i doubt it be on TMZ....

Team MYOB; "I'm not LDS. Never have been, never will be. That I know something about the church is a reflection of living in Utah as a Gentile as well as a testament to my ability to READ and RESEARCH. I am naturally intellectually curious. If something interests me or impacts me, I want to know more. I've even read the BOM (twice) and I'm not LDS. Imagine that!"

Nope, I don't buy it. Despite your attempts to position yourself on the intellectual high ground, it is easy for anyone to see that you are vitriolic and overly defensive; this is not the response you would get from a conscientious observer. In addition, nobody outside the LDS church would refer to themselves as a "Gentile" to indicate that they are not a member of the Mormon church. Furthermore, if you are so gifted in your researching abilities then you would know how the church uses deception and brainwashing tactics to maintain control over its membership. You would know that Utah leads the nation in teen suicide and depression among women due to the manipulative tactics the church employs. Clearly your research is heavily one-sided, thus I can only conclude that you are, in fact, a Mormon. Your attempts to attack my character are laughable since you know absolutely nothing about me. Your knee-jerk comments actually reveal much more about you than they do about me. You probably have some doubts about your own faith, and feel that lashing out at others even less faithful than yourself somehow vindicates your own flaws. I never said that you used the word "hater". I never said that sentence was even directed towards you personally (this is a public board and many posts have been made on it, and I don't usually feel compelled to make separate posts addressing each poster individually). But it is obvious that you have bigger issues than me to worry about, so I'll finish up this post and then follow the age-old advice, "Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig loves it".

For those interested in learning about the LDS church, I would suggest that you check out both the official site AND the support groups designed to help those who want to leave the church. This will give you a far more accurate and complete picture of the true LDS church than you would ever get from the LDS propaganda alone.

It's funny how people "say" they were mormon, and then spread all these horrible lies. Don't you think other mormons will know that what you are saying is wrong? Or maybe that is what you are trying to do. All I know is that I was taught that if you want to know about a catholic, you ask a catholic. If you want to know about a seventh day adventist, you ask an adventist, well the same thing goes for Mormons. If you want to know, go to a mormon that tries their best to lead a good life and goes to church. Don't go to people who don't know anything about the reilgion, or says ugly things about it. That says more about THAT person, than it does about the religion they are talking about. Why is everyone so afraid of the mormon faith? All religions are good as long as they teach you how to lead good lives, and to love one another. That's what I've been taught to do, no matter the person's religion. Some of you ought to do the same.

I would like to say, first of all, i am lds(mormon). I have done things that i am not proud of, and we all have. but one thing i have to say is that the church is a symbol or an example to the world for our savior Jesus Christ. As members we take upon ourself the name of Christ meaning that we will be his example in all places and at all times. We believe that our bodies are holy and should not be protrayed as a sex image or made in a way to cause others to lust. "He that lusteth after a women (or man) in his heart he has already committed adultery. " We believe that we should love one another and become clean and respect ourself and others, and be morally clean. Having return missionaries posing half nude is not good in any way because it is still porn, and no unclean thing can enter the kingdom of god and the holy spirit can not dwell in unholy temples. it doesnt matter if the world says its not bad, God does not look at sin with the least degree of variance. we are here on earth to prove to ourself and our father in heaven that we can do whats right. if we break even one law even a little law we are unclean. These young men should be dealt with the way the Lord sees fit. if it means excommunication or disfellowshipment, it must be necessary. im not saying im perfect because im not but they are producing porn which is wrong in every way. I hope my words have come across the way i want them to, but we all will be punished for our own sins, and it is the Lords judgement not mans.

Thankful_butnotamember

I was raised Mormon, and though I have many wonderful memories growing up in the church, I do not practice the religion. I am amazed, however, how many people make up lies about it. Though I don't agree with their "word of wisdom" on "evils" like alcohol, coffee (lol) and sexuality (and yes, in church literature it says masturbation leads to homosexuality! stuuuupid), my experience growing up aa a Mormom has made me a better person. In fact, without Church welfare, we would've been homeless when I was in high school. The Church paid my Mom's rent and bills for 5 years after my Dad got sick. Their Deseret industries corp. supplied all of our food and they even gave us beds, and furniture. So if you wonder where all the tithing goes, that's where it goes: to help people when they need it. My overall experience with mormomisn is that it is a great community, but not one that I want to associate myself with religiously.

But people really need to stop being so judgemental of things you don't understand. Ok, so Mormons have a dark past - and Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc. etc. don't? Muslims slaughtered thousands of Christians in the name of Allah; Christians slaughtered and tortured thousands of natives in the act of conversion; Christians tortured Mormons in the name of God less than 150 years ago. hmmmm. All religions have dark history because it is governed by people. People make mistakes, but don't blame the institution, blame the individual. I agree with the Mormons in this stupid calendar case, because the calendar is sacriligious to their doctrine. If a hindu promotes eating meat to the mass media, I assume many Hindu's would see that as blasphemous as well, right?

My biggest criticism of the LDS church and many mainstream religions is that they preach that their church is the "true" church. Educating oneself about all religions and how those religions have affected cultures throughout the world will build a true "testimony" of "God".

Chad

Hi everybody! Well, given that this is comment #150, if you're reading this, I'm both impressed and saddened that you have nothing better to do. But if you're here, by all means read on! I'm a Mormon, and if I'm brainwashed I've got to tell you they've done one hell of a...er heck of a job. I certainly don't fell brainwashed. I don't recall attending any cult-like rituals, but maybe they're so good at brainwashing me that they wipe my memory every time something cult-like happens. I don't recall anybody suggesting I marry a 12 year-old, take a second wife, or damning me to hell for drinking a Coke. My church leaders have actually been *gasp* nice to me and *gasp* supportive and even *double gasp* there for me unconditionally when I've screwed up. Perhaps the conspiracy some speak of involve making sure some of us, like me, are treated great so we feel normal. Maybe I'm part of the 'cover' so the rest of my fellow Mormons can act all crazy and cult-like. That must be it. :)

I don't think it matters if you "love" us, hate "us", or are indifferent. But regardless of how you feel, may I suggest you have a good reason for it? Seems to me that most of the haters are ex-members who apparantly had some pretty horrific experiences. If that's the case, I truly feel sorry for you guys. Maybe therapy could help. And man, if you're convinced that 15 old men are making your decitions for you, therapy might be a good idea. Last time I checked, I'm making my own decisions. I'm just trying to live a good life, contribute to society, supprot my family, and worship my God in a way that works for me. My testimony is a simple one - I didn't have to consult anybody's opinion. I simply went to the source - asked God myself via prayer. And wouldn't you know it I got an answer. Crazy, huh? Might work for you too. Whatever your beliefs, c'mon peeps. Can't we all just get along?

By the way, I would have actually auditioned for this calendar, but I sense that a picture of me topless would have made people cry - or take pity on me. And I wouldn't want to do that to you.

He got the notice for the dis. Council for something else - not the calander folks. Probably cheated on his wife. We Mommons kinds of look down on that.

Mormons are great people. So are those of other faith or no faith. Self rightousness works both ways. Don't diss someone for trying to follow their beliefs.
