Mommy Pics of Brit's Sis Trigger Criminal Probe

9/22/2008 5:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

A stolen picture of Jamie Lynn Spears breast feeding her baby has sparked a federal child pornography investigation.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ federal and local authorities are on the hunt for someone peddling 12 pics of Britney Spears, Jamie Lynn, daughter Maddie and baby daddy Casey Aldridge. One of the pictures shows Jamie Lynn breast feeding Maddie -- Jamie Lynn's left breast is exposed.

The pics were taken on Casey's digital camera. We're told he took the camera card to his local Wal-Mart in Louisiana for copies. Law enforcement believes someone at the Wal-Mart may have made extra copies, then tried selling them.

Because Jamie Lynn is a minor, selling the pics -- or buying them -- could constitute a violation of federal laws prohibiting child pornography. Peddling pictures of a minor's breast -- even if not taken for sexual purposes -- could land the seller and the buyer in federal prison if they are marketed across state lines for the purpose of being lurid. Also, anyone purchasing the pics could be prosecuted for the crime of receiving stolen property.

Other pics in the set include Britney holding the baby and one of Jamie Lynn, Britney, Bryan (Brit's bro), Lynne Spears and Jamie Spears around Jamie Lynn's hospital bed. There are also pics of Maddie by herself, and there's a picture of Jamie Lynn in a negligee holding the baby.

Authorities are trying to find the man who is attempting to sell the photos. In addition, we're told Britney's lawyers are thinking about going after Wal-Mart for the alleged security breach.

UPDATE: Wal-Mart tells TMZ, "We saw the story on the wires and it's news to us too. We'll of course investigate what, if anything, has happened here."

Seems to me like ev eryone is doing alot of hating...regardless of their family issues; I can BET that a few of you who made those comments have a few issues yourselves!! Sure Jamie is a young teen mom...HELLO, she is not the FIRST!! Becoming famous does not make prying into your personal life acceptable either...Wal-Mart should be responsible OR at least take part in investigating who stole the pic's. If it were you, and you felt violated, then I am sure you'd want justice..if it were your child; you'd probably DEMAND IT!! As for the child porn issue...that is a little crazy...i think it has to do with the family name more than anything; the legal system is giving a higher charge because of that (in my opinion). Breast feeding is human nature..NOT PORN! At least Jamie is doing something else right...her first "right move" was to take responsibility for her actions and to raise a child that God created. Give the girl a break and lets focus on the bigger issue...PRIVACY, VIOLATION, THEFT; and this all happend at a Wal-Mart....OH..I am also sure that they could afford NUMEROUS printers....but lets think about this...YOUNG "ADULT" BOY takes and develops pictures...regardless of if they had or didn't have a printer; DO YOU THINK THIS KID WOULD TAKE THE TIME TO PRINT OUT PIC'S..he is too busy being what he is, dispite his age, A KID!! If I were younger, I'd probably bring 'em to wal-mart too...FASTER and I didn't have to do it!!

You people are so ignorant who think it's OK for someone to steal pictures of private moments and then sell them. I think it's disgusting that someone did this and I hope they get prosecuted to the fullest extent. Things have gone too far.

@Oleg You speak the truth. If she is old enough to have sex, get pregnant, have a child, breast feed, it's not child porn AT ALL. It's not even nudity, it's breast feeding. Women can breast feed anywhere, cameras are everywhere and only a moron wouldn't expect a photo to pop up here and there.

On the flip side, this is theft of private property. Too bad the photo guy works for Wal-Mart and won't be able to afford an attorney worth a dime. He's screwed.

Yep, you can bet Wal-Mart is to blame!!! Forget the crappy wages & benefits, their employee accepted the responsibility of that job at the CURRENT wages and benefits, not with SPEARS BENEFITS ATTACHED! I say fire the employee who made extra copies of the pics & sue everyone involved - including Wal-Mart! I have a family member who used to work in a photo lab (long before Wal-Mart was around) - SHE HAS AWESOME "COPIED PICS" of MANY STARS, this is nothing new!!!

who has the facts? ME

It makes no sense to have to have photos developed from a digital camera - something isn't right - maybe Casey himself was trying to sell them??

What amazes me is that there are so many people who are reading this and ready to judge the second this kind of stuff is released. What the article is saying is that since she in still a MINOR, which means under the legal age of 18, the picture of her breast is still ILLEGAL to be published. Casey did not take a picture of her to be malicious. He is the father of the child who is being breast-fed. I know, I am actually being real about this. Hard to believe. But it looks to me, from the posts that I have read, that there has got to be something better for most of you to be doing, like GET A JOB!!!!! I already have one, its called being a Mom, and a wife. Anyone care to take that one on??

I reckon some folks are just too stupid to plug THEIR OWN camera into THEIR OWN computer and print THEIR OWN pictures on THEIR OWN printer.

At least she is BREAST FEEDING! And although I do not consider that porn, if that is how they have to approach it to arrest some loser, go ahead! She deserves her privacy! ANYONE can sit and feed a baby a bottle, she should ba able to feed her baby a breast. Grow up people

Only in America would an exposed, breast nursing a baby be considered pornography. You want to know what pornography is? How about the USA killing innocent people in wars that are not justified, a corrupt government that favors the rich and does nothing to help the disadvantaged, electing a "cowboy" for eight years who hasn't a clue how to run the country, and selecting people to run for the next administration who think foreign policy experience amounts to looking for Vladimir Putin through binoculars from their Alaskan backyard!

Hate to be the one to break the news to the Spears' family, but they don't have a case here against the Wal-Mart corporation. Wal-Mart has explicit rules about what can/cannot be seen in pictures, and the Spears' family violated that by asking them to produce pictures with nudity. However, the person that stole the pictures and attempted to steal them will definitely face suit.
