Celebrity Justice
Britney to Prosecutor: I Ain't No Krimin'l, Y'all

Britney SpearsThe biggest case since Manson was tried was played out today in an L.A. County criminal court.

Britney Spears, about to go on trial for the heinous crime of driving without a valid California license, was offered a deal to make the case go away -- a $150 fine, and 12 months probation.

Britney's lawyer, Michael Flanagan, told TMZ ... no way Jose. He's not going to cop a plea to a criminal offense.

3. WTF?! Are they really taking it that far?! My fiance moved to Texas from Florida (has lived here 6 YEARS NOW) and still has his Florida license! He's been pulled over numerous times and the cops never say anything!!

CAN WE SAY HARASSMENT?

4. The defense lawyers will once again strut into court five in a row and rack up billable hours in quintuplicate.

C'mon, Brit. They're using you. Accept the plea deal. This should be your decision, not theirs. Where's your dad? Let your conservator offer you some free counsel. Make this case go away.

5. Bitchney needs to be held accountable for her actions at some point. She has broken numerous laws and has never paid the price, the worst being child-neglect. Even though this is a petty charge, i hope the inconsiderate, no talent, loser get the maximum penalty available.

6. This is such a joke! The City Attorney is only looking for notoriety for "busting" Britney. The case should have been dismissed a long time ago or at least have her pay a fine on an infraction. This is not worthy of probation!

9. I'm all for prosecuting celebrities instead of slapping them on the wrist when they break the law, but even I have to admit this is a huge waste of taxpayer money. Fine the girl, make her do some community service if you have to, but don't waste everyone's time and money.

10. What really matters is: what is a violation of the probation. If all it means is you must have a valid California drivers license when you are behind the wheel then this is extremely harsh but not impossible.

If the probation means that she can be charged with violation of her probation for not using her turn signal then this is obvious discrimination and a blatant attempt to set her up for harsher treatment by the cops etc.

This is far far far harsher punishment than the average person gets. But the judge will get a book deal and the prosecuitor can say he convicted Britney Spears.

14. Give her her damn license and then everyone bail--because she IS going to kill someone eventually.

15. I had the same charge in california as britney. I just went to the DMV, got my license, showed it to the court and they dropped the charge and I paid a $10 processing fee. It really is BS that they are dragging this thing out.
