Celebrity Justice
J. Blige and Jay-Z Sued for Songjacking

A couple of Jersey boys have sued Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z and others, claiming M.B. and Jay-Z have made a killing by ripping off their tune.

Jermaine Jumpp and Michael C. Adams claim in a federal lawsuit they handed a "compact disk" to the "office" of megaproducer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins with the song "On My Grind."

Then, not-so-magically, four years later, Mary J. recorded "Enough Cryin'" -- produced by Darkchild -- and the guys say it sounded awfully familiar.

It is unclear from the lawsuit what Jay-Z's roll was in all this.

The defendants couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

1. Too bad this isn't the first time MJB has been on the wrong end of song theft...

They are both talentless hacks.

4. "It is unclear from the lawsuit what Jay-Z's roll was in all this."

I'm pretty sure you meant "role," but I still picture this giant bread roll walking into the courthouse, pushed along by Jay-Z, trying shamefully to hide its face.

Tsk tsk...rolls, these days.

9. hahahaha look at this idiot above me

"if you've heard jay-z freestyle you know he doesnt jack beats"

okay, dumbest comment ever made. jacking beats is a completely seperate idea than freestyling and rapping or even recording. we're talking about using a beat, flipping it and making it sound new without changing the original beat. that's basically what beat jacking is. using someone elses product in your own way without paying rights to that person.

uhy, people are just so dumb.

10. How come TMZ has not talking John Mayer getting sued by a bunch of musicians and song writers??

Curtis Mayfield's son Kirk is suing John for stealing his father's "We're a Winner" for "Waiting On The
World To Change", John is also being sued by a songwriter who writes music for the weather channel,
yes the weather channel! John lifted a instrumental song from the damn weather channel and put words to it.

Janey Hendrix (Jimi Hendrix's step sister) is also seeking damages from Mayer for lifting various passages
and songs from Jimi Hendrix.

There are also other songs that people are claiming John Mayer Lifted..

Mayer - Victoria = Karma Police - Radio Head (dead on rip off, there is even live videos on youtube of John playing Victoria and then going into Karma Police. Not good for defense..)

Two songwriters are claiming John not only lifted "Why Virginia" but also "daughters" from them.

11. jay z's role in this is that he supposedly wrote the lyrics that mary raps in the song i.e his name is on the publishing credits.

12. I find it strange that these two millionaires would risk so much to steal someone's song. I guess it could happen tho.

13. They all steal songs, or either lip sync, prime example: Kanye West is well-known for two things: his awesome rapping and his arrogance. The guy's music is so intensely good it (almost) justifies his God complex. Every time the rapper gets onstage at some awards show and accepts one statue by claiming he should have won another one, we usually have to agree. West has encouraged us to expect such a superhuman level of perfection from him, it was inevitable he would one day not be able to meet it.

That day was last Saturday, when West performed on Saturday Night Live. Dude did not sound good. He was more American Idol blooper reel than Grammy-winning polished performer. So what was the problem? Well, it had something to do with the Auto-Tune feature--you know the part of "Love Lockdown" where he sings about a system overload and losing control? Well, he was living it! And it was also pretty clear that when he got to the high notes, he pulled away from the mic and let an offstage singer handle the tough stuff. The bottom line is that we saw behind the curtain of Kanye West's seemingly impenetrable awesomeness. So was it satisfying to witness the world's most egocentric rapper all exposed on national television? No, no it was not. People were outraged. How dare he...sound so bad!

The outrage was so intense that it morphed into a bizarre lip-synching accusation. Instead of blaming Kanye West for putting on a sub-par performance, people attacked him for revealing that all those robotic tweaks in his songs are not, you know, organically produced. (Um, guys, there's no Santa Claus, either).

We say the scandal is not that Kanye lip-synched through a live TV performance, but that he failed to lip-synch through a live TV performance. If he'd had all the right bells and whistles on board, we would have been all like, "Wow, this rules," rather than all like, "Wow, this hurts our ears." Just sayin'.

14. I find it nearly immpossible not to repeat basic beats. Kid Rock has a song that when I first heard it sounded like a popular song from the 80s. I doubt he was sued for plagarizing and not "jacking" it. Stop with the slang and plagarizing. Should we all pay the originator of certain terms for using their slang ? I see no difference. No one is forcing you to buy the music. I also find humor in the bad language usage, spelling, puncuation, even slang. Get your priorties straight and get a little education while in school. Would anyone have voted for Obama if he communcated like the uneducated, uncouth, rude, lowlifes who think everyone owes them something and who think they are in someway special or limitedly popular ? Stop with the hand waving chimpanzee immitations, I am sure they find it offensive.
