"Law and Order" Actress Sued -- **Doink Doink**

12/25/2008 4:26 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Ok, what's worse: An ungrateful actress or a talent agency that relies on oral promises? **Doink Doink**.

S. Epatha Merkerson got lots of jobs -- most notably a starring role as Lt. Anita Van Buren in "Law and Order" -- yet won't pay The Gersh Agency 10%. **Doink Doink".

In a lawsuit filed in L.A. Superior Court, the agency claims it had an oral deal -- as in trust me dahling, I'm good for it. **Doink Doink**.

The suit claims Merkerson pulled in $2,229,084 for "Law and Order alone." The agency wants at least $222,908.40.

**Doink Doink!!!!***.

the guy deserves every penny if he got her some work. she is one boring actress. one expression. so NOT convincing in her role. i cringe whenever she's on. thank heavens it's a small enough role that we don't have to see her that much when we are bored out of our minds and watch that show.

Valerie, perhaps so but even still, the guy STILL should've got the agreement in writing! As I said earlier, I almost hope he DOESN'T get any loot just for being stupid. While an oral contract can be binding, something in writing is far more reliable than something said between two parties. Does this guy even have an audio recording of the agreement? As for being boring, to each their own but considering that she's won a few awards for her acting, she can't be that bad!

valerie, i COMPLETELY disagree. she is great in her role, and extremely convincing. she's one of the few in the business who don't overact, and she actually looks like maybe she could be a cop. on most tv shows (i.e. csi miami) the characters are way too attractive for it to be convincing. s. epatha just looks like a normal person. and are you honestly suggesting that one must be bored to watch "law & order?!" ARE YOU CRAZY? every single time i turn my tv on it's the first thing i look for. you are either like 13, or just don't know good tv. sorry. also the noise is definitely more of a "dun dun" than a "doink doink."

First, Epatha is one of the classiest actresses out there.

Second, The Gersh Agency didn't get her the job on "Law and Order". She hasn't been represented there for the 17 YEARS she's been on that show, so they shouldn't get the full 10% of her salary.

Third, most agencies don't have written agreements for their clients, especially on each and every deal.

Merry Christmas from The Gersh Agency!

I agree with #10. I do think she's one of the good guys in Hollywood.

We definitely don't know the whole story and any reputable agency the books someone for ANY job much less one of the longest running and extremely high profile job like Law And Order would get it in writing. Think about it. I think it's BS.

Of course, if she agreed, yes I think she should pay (for moral reasons) though I think my other point is more prevalent.
