Jessica Alba is fuming at TMZ for calling her dumb when she called Sweden a "neutral" country last week ... even though it currently has troops in Afghanistan.
She is absolutely correct. Sweden was a neutral country ... 60 years ago.
Even though she was engaged in a debate about the current political situation in America when she advised a reporter to "Be Sweden ... be neutral" -- Alba is swinging back at critics, like TMZ, on her blog saying, "It's so sad to me that you think the only neutral country during WWII was Switzerland."
She is absolutely correct -- when the Nazis were waging war on anyone who opposed Hitler's evil rule, Sweden remained neutral and stayed out of the war. After the war, Winston Churchill referred to Sweden as "that small, coward country."
We apologize for not considering the political climate of the world in 1942 when we suggested she may have meant, "Be Switzerland" -- a country that is currently neutral.
Our sincerest apologies.

Opening her mouth just ruins it. Has she ever heard the saying "Sometimes it's better to remain quite and be thought a fool than it is to open your mouth and remove all doubt."?
Let me correct myself: The Irish Free State (now the Republic of Ireland) was also neutral.
Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, and Spain were neutral as of 1942.
Just a comment to the comments: Sweden was NOT neutral during WWII. The only reason Hitler didn't invade us was because our coward government and very German friendly king, let the German troops travel on the Swedish railways on their journey ... to invade NORWAY!
she is still stupid....and she came up with that Sweden explanation after she, "like, um, like asked somebody smart to find a time when Sweden was neutral....."
Nice try, Jessica. Again, don't try to pretend you are smart about anything....just memorize your script and do what the director says...
haha you know she only got the whole "switzerland is neutral" thing from reading the twilight books. (i know its sad - i just recently read the book and that's the first thing that popped into my head.)
huh why is jessica alba talking about sweden , 1942 and hitler when jessica alba isnt even swedish she was born in californa and is part danish?and whos jessica alba what has she ever done exect a couple b-movie films that no one cares about angeina jolie she will never be who cares
I'm positive if you keep monitoring Jessica Alba's comments, she'll come up with a few more inane statements. No one has ever accused her of being a Rocket Scientist.
As long as she can give a rational explanation as to how her comment made sense, then I think she is correct.
WWII was the last war in which neutrality in Europe was a rare thing and so it would make sense that that is when she was referring to.
Jessica is like everyone else in Holloyweird, stupid and angry. Jessica should stick to what she does best (trying very hard to act and never doing very well) Keep it up TMZ. I am so sick of these idiots!
She is just making herself look dumber by trying to defend what was a clear blunder on her part. Everyone, but her, knows the accepted phrase is Switzerland. Doing this just opens her up to having to prove all the WWII history she knows and wants to reference. Yes, days later after she has the chance to dig around the internet to see if there is anyway she can be made to look like less of a dumba**.
Sweden allowed Nazi Germany to use their railroad system. Swiss banks housed all the Jewish gold Nazi Germany stole. While neither country took up arms, neither was truly neutral.
If ANYONE actually believes this bubble-headed no talent little snot actually meant to refer to Sweden instead of Switzerland, then you need to layoff the crack pipe.
