Farrah Fawcett's Son Arrested on Jail Grounds

4/5/2009 1:42 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Farrah Fawcetts sonWhile Farrah Fawcett is reportedly fighting for her life -- her 24-year-old son is now fighting two brand new drug charges.

Redmond O'Neal was arrested around 9:30 this morning in Castaic, California -- and here's the rub, he was on jail grounds at the time of his arrest.

According to cops, Redmond had just dropped off two friends at a detention center to visit a jailed buddy, when an officer stopped his car to perform a routine security check in the jail parking lot.

Authorities say when the cop came over to the car, Redmond informed the officer that he was in possession of narcotics.

Redmond was immediately searched and then arrested for possession of a controlled substance and bringing narcotics into a secured jail facility. We're told one of the substances was heroin.

Redmond is still behind bars -- his bail has been set at $25k.

Redmond as difficult as it is to deal with your mothers illness, you need to get it together and be there for her and yourself. You may be very angry about her illness, but it s not her fault. Be angry at the illness not your mother. One day you WILL regret not being there for her and it will be too late. Nothing worth anything in life is easy . You getting your life together would be a wonderful gift to your mother and yourself. Just remember that there are people that really do care about you. You may not think so and it may not always show but they do!!!!

Ryan O'Neal is the one who should be in jail. He obviously lacked any real parenting skills. All his children have drug and/or alcohol problems. I feel for this kid, what demons he must be fighting.

Ok, Redmond....It is way past time for you to grow up. Time to think of your mom and spend time with her. Get your head on straight, get some help and be a man.

I keep hoping that I won't read in this space or any other that Farrah has died. I know she sometimes came across as an airhead, but she was anything but. Her humor and talents are admirable.

What a selfish and stupid idiot this young man is.....
The only thing he should have been doing was be being with his Mom,I understand how hard it can be dealing with a life threatning desease and that self medicating seems to make easier to cope, but its not the answer, but on the other hand at least he wouldn't have been arrested at the hospital!
Anyone that has ever been to the Wayside facility or any of the other L.A. county lock-ups knows the rules for goodness sake its right their in big, bold letters what the rules are!!!
So he has only himself to blame...So what if he was being mr.nice guy and taking his friends to visit someone.
The people sitting in there cars waiting on others are going to draw curiosity and that will cause the patrolling deputies to want to have a word or two with you and once that happens you end up exactly where hes at

ATTENTION: Listen to some of you on here who really feel they know about addiction. What is it like to be all knowing? It happens to alot of people and it can happen in your family. I am fighting an addiction to pain meds after a car accident for yrs now. It is really very hard. The deep depression when you try to stop and the withdrawls are horrible. I hurt inside also from alot of untimely deaths of family and close friends. Addicts deep inside want help but it is one tough hard road to a full recovery. This son of Farrah is sick and yes cant face his mother,s death sentence and the guilt that goes with addiction my God it is really a sad lonely walk. I pray for them all. Her son cant face it and he feels he wont make it without the help of his drugs. He is losing his mother the addiction is so strong this situation will only make him use more. I know iam there and God be with this family help them all. Love to you Farrah and your son. Your the best!
