Pardon the Departure -- Kornheiser Out at 'MNF'

5/18/2009 12:05 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Tony KornheiserIt's a good thing Tony Kornheiser hosts the greatest sports show on the planet -- because he just quit his other job as an announcer on "Monday Night Football."

Kornheiser is stepping down after three years in the booth. Jon Gruden, who coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Super Bowl XXXVII title, will be taking his place.

Kornheiser, who along with Michael Wilbon hosts "PTI" on ESPN, has a well-documented fear of flying and cited this year's hectic schedule as his reason for leaving.

Best news ever..He was horrible! couldn't stand him on MNF..I wish he had a fear of talking along with his fear of flying.
Jon Gruden should be a great replacement, however that's a given being a 5 yr old could do a better job than Tony.

hahahahahha!!!!!

TMZ will waste valuable website space on a nonstory like this, but won't dare bring up how their little sweet California grandma Pelosi is a waterboarding loving, waterboarding supporting lying POS? LOL!!!! Love it TMZ, love it!!!

BTW, Tony is leaving because he talked over everyone and they all hated him.

Tony needs to stay with what he is good at.... over the years he's trying to be Dennis Miller on PTI and his stay on MNF. We all know how that Dennis Miller thing went. The world will always find retired athletes more creditable in sports broadcasting for their experience and knowledge about the game on and off the playing field.
Hope the best for Tony but today I still enjoy the Joe Friday of Football announcers... "Just the Facts" Keep the jokes to your Sunday dinner stand-up acts. That's all for now,,,

I will miss Tony on MNF. Tony was great on MNF, i always liked his comments. This is sad for MNF but at least we have one good thing for pro football this year and that is no more of that idiot John Madden. Goodbye Madden you moron. I did not need Madden to tell me that since the running back has the ball and he is running with it he is the running back and he is running. moron

Good. PTI is the greatest sports show, but TK on MNF...not so good. Love Tony and Mike on PTI, but he really seemed out of place in the football booth.

# 8 -Jeff, For you to mention and even try and compare, Tony to the legend John Madden, clearly shows you have no clue about sports, furthermore it proves you're a moran. What you said was not only stupid but laughable.

Oh Man! This is good news TMZ! Me and my Dad have been complaining to ESPN for years about this AssClown. Btw I agree with #12 Dirksgirl. #8 Jeff is also an AssClown for thinking TK is better than Madden. What the hell are you thinking dude?!?!?
