Possible Defense in Death of Angels Pitcher

6/10/2009 9:10 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

A new twist in the death of Anaheim Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart ... the woman driving the car he was in had been drinking shortly before the fatal accident.

We've learned the results of the postmortem toxicology tests on Courtney Stewart -- the driver who died in the crash along with Adenhart -- were positive for alcohol. And, law enforcement sources tell us "an illegal substance" was also found, though the sources would not be more specific.

This information could be extremely important in the defense of Andrew Gallo, the driver of the minivan that ran a light and struck the other car. Gallo was arrested for DUI and later charged with three counts of murder. We're told Gallo's lawyer is already honing in on the toxicology tests.

#7 thank you... glad to see someone else feeling the same way about personal responsibility! It's time for people to just start admiting that they messed up and pay the price for that mistake.

if this woman had made a mistake driving that night then she would share some responsibility but she didn't make a mistake. SHE was not the ine to run a light that POS is the one who fu*ked up now he needs to pay for it.

My two cents

.6 people. If she was one year older she would not have been "over the limit" or deemed a DUI candidate. They deem her OVER THE LIMIT because she was 20 years old. So what...she had a BEER? Let's not deface her here. It was that other jackasses fault, period end of subject.

This was a terrible tragedy. If nothing else, always remember to wear your seatbelt and drive defensively.

@TMZ Is no one checking these comments? What Poopyhead and others wrote is just downright offensive and has no other purpose then to offend and hurt people. You should hire someone to check these comments. Would be good for the economy too.

Anyway, back on topic. On the 'illegal substance' matter: it's probably marihuana. Which in fact can show up in a blood test weeks after someone has used it. Of course you're not gonna be high for weeks, so that would just mean (or shoul mean) nothing in court.

And another thing, for people commenting on spelling mistakes, not everyone commenting here is necessarily from the USA, this is a website remember and therefor can be used by people from all over the world, I'm from Europe and English isn't my native language.

Are you, TMZ, telling us that a blonde sorority chick was drinking and driving? NO WAY?! I just wonder if a sober driver would've responded better. She's just as guilty... Gotta love Cal State Fullerton white people!

This is how it always works. The guilty one buys a lawyer who gets him off. My 1st husband was killed by a repeat DUI offender(on a suspended license) who admitted that he was the driver. His paid for lawyer claimed that he was too drunk to know what he was talking about, so it couldn't have been him who was driving. Yes, he got off but during another trial for something completely different he had caused yet another accident (his suspended license was re-issued during our trial) although he didn't kill anyone THIS time. Because daddy had run out of money his lawyer gave up. He spent maybe one year in jail.

Homing in or Honing in?

Homing in on was almost certainly the original, honing in on followed it almost instantly though.
Homing in on was used for the faculty possessed by animals such as pigeons, turtles etc. of returning home from a distance.
Honing in was a mishearing or misunderstanding but is widely used now just as Homing in is.

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE

Facts are Facts. We will hear them soon enough. Still the BLONDE should not have been driving. And Nick made a mistake, a BIG MISTAKE by drinking after the game with the BLONDE(S), knew they had been drinking but still got into a car with them none the less.
Nothing good can come from this but the truth. Not the covering up of an actual over the limit alcohol inebriated BLONDE so that the charged is not unfairly convicted. Or any illegal drugs found in her system. What WE all need is the TRUTH plain and simple. It is why this site is here. That one day we may find the truth even if it is not what we want to believe is the TRUTH.

Truth is you are a true TMZ junkie or you would not read this. SO
just let go.

Number 25 (Wake up) I bet your the typical white hole. She was drunk and high on Meth (white holes choose of drug) that why she was in a car with three men, going to get gang bang. She was probably blowing one as she was driving. But of course, white is right and they can do what ever the F*CK they want. Blame the our poor sap as long as they're not white.

Well he ran the light, not her. He is the one who CAUSED the accident, not her. He has had prior DUI's, and I haven't heard that she did. They are dead, he isn't. You do the math.

I don't care what was in her system...she wasn't the one that ran the red light and killed 3 people. I hope that guy is punished for it all. He was on probation driving without a license and killed people so he needs to be in jail for the rest of his life.
