Recording Academy on MJ -- 'True Musical Icon'

TMZ just received the following statement from The Recording Academy -- the people behind The Grammys:

"Rarely has the world received a gift with the magnitude of artistry, talent and vision as Michael Jackson.

He was a true musical icon whose identifiable voice, innovative dance moves, stunning musical versatility and sheer star power carried him from childhood to worldwide claim.

A 13-time Grammy recipient, Michael's career transcends musical and cultural genres, and his contributions will always keep him in our hearts and memories.

We are deeply saddened by this tragic news, and our hearts go out to his family and to music lovers around the globe who mourn this great loss."

3. It seems to be a tradition that when someone dies we forget about the less savoury side of their personality; whereas it would be wrong to suggest that Jackson was not a musical genius in his private life he was a paedophile with a predeliction for little boys. That he escaped jail was purely down to his wealth which he pissed away paying off the families of the little boys he had abused on a regular basis. It was no accident that his career nose dived so spectacularly following his acquittal on molestation charges despite the evidence. One wonders what will happen to his children but one can rejoice in the certainty that they are now safe from the one who called himself their father - at least one assumes he knew how to fill a turkey baster.;
