Jackson Docs Can Run But Can't Hide

Michael JacksonAs law enforcement officials comb through medical records to determine who supplied and administered the anesthesia Propofol and other drugs to Michael Jackson, we've learned there may be a fail-safe way of getting at the truth.

It's no secret -- especially in a celebrity town like L.A. -- some doctors use pseudonyms for celebrity patients and sometimes their medical charts somehow get "lost." But we've learned most doctors leave an indelible footprint when it comes to treating patients.

Many doctors -- especially ones with big practices -- use medical software systems from MD Systems, NexTech and other companies. These companies provide the software that makes it easy to input billing data.

Doctors typically input the patient's name, billing amount, type of treatment, type of drugs prescribed and administered, and date of service. Here's the thing -- that data cannot be deleted from the server.

The system allows doctors to add other data like medical charts, and those things can be deleted. But if someone deletes that info, the software shows the name of the user who did it and the date it was done.

Bottom line -- the basic billing information will not go away.

As we reported days ago, law enforcement found Propofol inside Jackson's house. Propofol is an anesthesia, which should never be administered outside a hospital, and it's looking like that drug killed Jackson. If cops find who supplied it and who administered it, the docs could well be prosecuted for manslaughter.

Abstract

The death of a female anaesthesiologist is reported. Although the situation at the scene indicated propofol overdose-related death, self-administration of such high doses of propofol was unlikely, given the pharmacological properties of this drug. The analysis of the situation at the scene and the toxicological analysis in which the blood and liver propofol concentrations were 2.40μg/ml and 0.56μg/g, respectively, supported the conclusion that the death was a consequence of propofol self-administration at therapeutic doses from a person who used the drug on chronic basis seeking to its euphoric effects. However, because the toxic concentrations of propofol in non-intubated patients may be different from those intubated and fully supported in the operating room or in the intensive care unit, a mere interpretation of the blood and tissue concentrations of propofol in the toxicological analysis can confirm the drug intake but it may be of limited diagnostic significance without taking into account this difference.

8. True. I used to doctor shop. What usually happens is you wind up with the worst doctor because only a bad doctor will give you what you want. The fault is yours. The guy was surrounded by yes men and enablers, including people that are trying to remove his responsibility after death and make excuses. That said, I'm starting to appreciate that a lot of people are upset over his death cause they grew up with him. I felt the same way about David Carradine. I'm going to try and respect their loss on these threads a bit more.

9. But will the computer trail lead not just to the doctors but to those who paid the doc to do it?

After all no one can argue that any doctor could make as many mistakes as this one did unintentionally. Neither can you argue that the AEG bosses did not know that Jackson had a drug problem, after all he had been in rehab before. Furthermore, if medical reports are true, he had a mini-clinic on the HIStory tour. Now you can't tell me these men became billionaires without doing their research. That's ignoring the fact that Phillips, the AEG boss, claims to have been great friends with Jackson. Yet, he paid for this doc and got a man he knows to have a problem with prescription drugs, at the very least in the past, to go on tour. Yet claimed he knew nothing of this.

10. DDT, Malathion, Mercury and many other pesticides are banned. They are now universially considered environmental hazards. Jackson shows that "prescription" and "drugs" are the sane thing. It is time to expose the Pharmacuetical Industry for what it is, along with its accomplices, "doctors", for what they are. The spread of Oxycodone, Xanax, Percoset, Demarol, and now Propinal are filling our emergency rooms and killing our children and the country. These industries, Doctors and Drug makers, need to be made accountable. They are thugs. They way to do it is to make them pay real money. We need to stop letting them hide behind the mask of "health care". These are people that knowlingly distribute defective, dangerous, unsafe products.for money. It is way past time to stop this.

12. There is also their DEA identification number that needs to be registered with each prescription or it won't be filled. If that number is being used for a large number of fictitious or unidentifiable patients or on prescriptions for patients who claim that they never got the drug, it will flag the physician. This is how Cindy McCain got busted. She had stolen a DEA ID and then used it to write scripts in the names of her employees who had no idea she was using their names to illegally access controlled substances. It was not difficult at all to backtrack and figure out what she had done once suspicions were raised.

I wonder about the pharmacy liability in this. How can they justify filling scripts with no patient name? I think the pharmacy will feel some compulsion to share what they know in order to stay out of trouble themselves. The doctors involved, if there are any and this is not just speculation, are screwed.

13. I doubt someone would be stupid enough to have a record of giving him something that is illegal.
That person probably just gave it to him and he gave them cash, duh?
there won't be any record of the transaction, trust me.

14. i hope that they do get this person that did this! it is sickening knowing that his death was avoidable. and to those that said that it is his own fault F*CK YOU! because i work in the healthcare system and i have worked with many paitients that are addicted to pain killers. they will continue to ask for medz all the time. it is our job to make sure that they only get what they are prescribed and when. he was addicted and in that case the doctor should realize that the desicions that jackson made about drugs was not right. so it is the doctors fault!!!
