Wolfgang Puck -- Hey Slick, You're Being Sued

8/1/2009 1:28 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Wolfgang PuckDoes a restaurant need to put up a "Caution: Wet Floor" sign if the floor isn't actually wet?

A woman from Michigan is suing Wolfgang Puck over an incident she claims went down at his Beverly Hills restaurant Spago back in 2007. According to a lawsuit filed last month, the woman claims she slipped and fell on the floor -- not because the floor was wet, per se, but because of "an overly slick finish on its wood floor." This is the same kind of person who sues because the coffee is too hot.

Anyway, the woman claims she fell and suffered "disabling and serious personal injuries" as well as "shock and injuries to her nervous system."

She is seeking unspecified damages.

I know many people can't believe that somebody sued McDonald's over their coffee being too hot in 1994...but most people do not know the facts. The woman was 79 and suffered third degree burns on 6% of her body and lesser burns on 16% of her body from the coffee. She required skin grafts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebeck_v._McDonald%27s_Restaurants

It wasn't a frivolous lawsuit...by any means. Oh, and she offered to settle with McDonald's for 20k to cover her medical bills, but they would only pay $800.

the truth hurts huh

OK - HOW STUPID DO YOU HAVE TO BE NOT TO KNOW THAT YOU ARE TAKING A RISK - PUTTING A HOT CUP OF COFFEE BETWEEN YOUR LEGS IN THE CAR???????

ALL HOT COFFEE IS HOT!!! Maybe McDonald's had it hotter than the established limits. But MILLIONS of DOLLARS paid out to the woman????

Give me a fu@&ing break. People need to start taking PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for using some COMMON SENSE!!!!!

You all realize the YOU and I pay for these lawsuits. Where do you think the money comes from - trees? Companies pass that expense on to us as consumers to make up for the financial loss. Connect the dots people!!!!

The comment made in this "news report" referring to the woman who sued McDonalds for "the coffee being too hot" is offensive to those of us who know the truth about the injuries sustained by that woman. 1.) The coffee was being served at somewhere around 124 degree Fahrenheit which was above the recommended temperature of the FDA 2.) The injuries sustained were beyond reprehensible. They were 2nd and 3rd degree burns which required medical attention. She was burned severely in very private places. Obviously this caused severe trauma to the woman. 3.) The woman never received any more money than which to pay her medical bills. She never "made out" with a huge boat load of cash.

Please don't refer to things which you are not educated on.

Slip and fall accidents can happen anywhere, on private or public property, indoors or out.It commonly occurs occurs when someone trips and lands on the floor or ground as a result of a seen or unseen hazard.Property owners need to be aware of the consequences should an accident occur. If you have the misfortune to slip and fall on a third party property and harm yourself for no blame of yours except for the negligence of the owner of the property then the proprietor will be liable for your injuries. It is a good idea to contact a lawyer as soon as possible after you are injured in any slip and fall case. Most attorneys will quickly investigate the scene of the accident to preserve any evidence before it is lost. accidentsdirect.
