Kevin Costner Near Miss in Stage Collapse

Kevin Costner and his band were due to take the stage at the Big Valley Jamboree in Canada yesterday when a storm touched down causing the stage to collapse. One person died and at least 60 people were injured.

Costner was okay, but we're told two members of his band were taken to the hospital. A witness on scene tells TMZ he saw Costner helping people out of the wreckage.

Country music singer Billy Currington was performing his last song when the stage collapsed. He was ok.

In a statement to TMZ, Costner's rep said: "We are so saddened by the loss of life and injury that occurred on a day that carried so much promise, but turned so wicked so quickly. We hope to return to Alberta in the future to help with the healing."

6. It didn't just collapse on its own - there was a nasty storm and they had begun to evacuate the area - there were trees ripped out from their roots in the same area because of the winds.

8. Yesterday a tragedy hit our community. There was a very severe summer storm that hit the area and with wind speeds hitting near 80 miles per hour. Yes the main stage at the concert event collapsed, but that was in no way the fault of any engineer or inspector. This is the time to remember the person that was killed, to pray for those that were injured, and to thank god that it wasn't a whole lot worse because this happened in the middle of a field with very very little shelter for anyone. I also want to say that the Country Music Community is amazing ,,,, the stars were out helping everyone, the concert goers banded together to help each other and the town of Camrose and surrounding communities came together with their emergency services to work through the night to make sure everyone was safe and accounted for,
