'Twilight' Author Accused of Biting Vampire Story

Spoiler Alert! If you haven't read the fourth "Twilight" book -- and plan to -- this story is going to ruin your life forever. You sure wanna go on? Here we go...

Twiligh : Read the docs

Turns out Stephenie Meyer, the woman behind the Twilight series, isn't the only person to write about sexy vampires -- 'cause she's being accused of ripping off the storyline for her fourth ultra-successful book by a less famous, less rich author.

A woman named Jordan Scott fired off a cease and desist letter to the publisher of "Breaking Dawn" -- the fourth book in the series -- claiming the Twilight tale contains a "striking and substantial similarity" to Scott's book, "The Nocturne."

In her extremely detailed letter, Scott claims her book was published in 2006 -- two years before "Breaking Dawn" -- and it's no coincidence that many of the scenes are almost identical. Such as...

-- Both books contain a post-wedding sex scene
-- Both books contain a scene about a woman who's sick because she's carrying a child with "evil powers"
-- Both books contain a scene with the death of the main character's wife

And according to Scott, the dialogue in all of these scenes -- and more -- is extremely similar.

But Meyer's rep is calling BS -- telling TMZ, "The claim that 'Breaking Dawn' by Stephenie Meyer somehow infringes on an alleged book by someone named Jordan Scott is completely without merit. Neither Stephenie Meyer nor her representatives had any knowledge of this writer or her supposed book prior to this claim."

So, the million dollar question ...

I've read enough vampire themed novels to know all of them have similarities. I think this is another case of wanting to be associated with anything "Twilight" for this author...knowing it will make a fortune for her without any law suit. Watch her novel now go to no. 1 around the world as any Twihard will get the book just to compare it.

hmm. i doubt its a rip off. hmm. remember buffy? and angel the series, the david boreanaz show? firstly, angel falls for buffy(vamp/human relationship? familiar?) then he too impregnated another vampire and gave birth to a child to turned out somewhat evil in the angel series.. these ppl are just thinking about the kinda story that sells. there are gonna be many more with such story lines. so what the heck! shud the producers of angel and buffy also sue stephanie meyers? this person just wants to cash in on the twilight frenzy. geeez!

Well I read it and I must say that it sure looks like eachother. The Nocturne from Jordan Scott I like they way she writes and also use more words. Breaking down from Stephanie Meyer is good, but I do see the simularity
I think the other writer has a point here. Sorry for the Twighlight readers but that's what I think. I never read any book of them, but by reading a few pages here I do like to read it though. But there to much simularities in them so much that you could think of of copying. If this is not the case but just a coincidence then its a strange coincidence.
But then again similarities do happen in books and also in series and movies. I dont think you can avoid it there so many. How can you not have a simularity in your books or series or movie what other movies, series etc also have?
Well I'm sure this will have an end and ofcourse its sad it happens . I'm sure the Twilight readers are believing their writer of the books and defent her,but look a bit further then that as well the other writer do has a point here because there are to much simularities. But Maby it will be payed off who knows. Thanks for the article though here It was nice reading the two books and I like the storie so in one way its good.

I just read it! There is no way Meyer thought of the same ideas, the same words, in the same order, chapter after chapter. Sorry to twilight fans, but Jordan Scott's book was puplished in 2006. there is just no way this is a coincidence . Sorry

Looking the same as the book is that the same as plagarrizing? If writer of the book is the same as the writer of the book that needs to be clearly the same to be said as same. Don't you agree?

ummm, i was reading that analysis, and it is similar, but this woman should be suing anyone who writes a book with a wedding, scary nightmare, vampires, etc. just because they are about the same subject doesnt mean that she "stole" the book or its ideas. maybe bram stoker should come back from the dead and sue everyone who stole his idea about dracula....

It doesn't surprise me. her books aren't original at all. I'm a big fan of vampires, so i've seen most of the shows and read most of the books and a lot of the dialouge and everything she's copied. It's pretty obvious. but yet i'm in love with the books and movie. So you gotta hand it to her, she knew how to copy other people stuff and still become rich off it.

LOL, Twilight is over rated but i just have to say this

A post wedding sex scene, what else are they going to be doing after the wedding? Eating cookies, and Stephine Meyer had her other books out waybefore this one, so you know everyone figured there was going to be some action in the future.. it's quite a predictable book, there is bound to be something out there like it.

Both books contain a post-wedding sex scene
-- Both books contain a scene about a woman who's sick because she's carrying a child with "evil powers"
-- Both books contain a scene with the death of the main character's wife

Rosemary's Baby and countless other supernatural novels have similar themes. There are only a few ways to play it, only women get pregnant, there are only 2 people in a marriage and they do have sex. And in satan spawn and you have yourself a nice little genre that has been done a hundred times before so...make it good.

Are they serious? Come on now... I'm no fan of Twilight by any means, but it's clearly not plagiarism. I'm pretty sure Jordan Scott doesn't own marriage, sex, nightmares, pregnancy, death, or vampires. There are similarities, but I don't think it's a rip off.
