DJ AM's mother just filed documents in L.A. County Superior Court, which say he did not have a will.
His mother, Andrea Gross, is listed as the sole heir.
The documents list AM's annual income from property at $3.5 million, plus an additional $400,000 in assets. The docs list his debts at $2.9 million.
DJ AM had no spouse or children.

11. Dayum! How can a DJ make this kind of money? After debts, he's still worth $1.9 mil???? How can that be? I was a DJ in the 80's and the best I did was $65 per hour. And I was good at it too. And the music was much better then than it is now. I guess I should have kept going! AND I was drug free!!! There's something wrong with the world today.

12. Those of you hating have apparently never had a friend or loved on with an addiction. You are lucky...and sheltered.
Furthermore, they probably meant donations from actual friends should be sent in lieu of flowers. Or maybe they didn't want those stupid, morbid flower and teddy bear fan monuments.

13. I guess it's not unusual for someone in his 20's not to have a will. I'm a little surprised though that his financial advisor (I am assuming he had one) didn't encourage him to have a will after his brush with death. Plus it seems there was a whole lot of money/assets involved, even with the amount of debt he accrued. It sounds like he and his mom were close so he wouldn't have objected to her getting everything. Still, if the cause of death is officially determined to be suicide, the insurance company won't pay anything.

14. It's very unfortunate that he choose to end his life like this. He had been through a lot in life, almost committing suicide to changing his life for the better. Then the plane crash that almost ended his life but he survive while others didn't. He was known even before his death maybe you guys didn’t like his art, but he was talented. Unfortunately his demons won out.
