Congressman: Prejean Should Be a Politician

11/17/2009 2:50 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Carrie Prejean has a serious congressional supporter who thinks she should pursue a career in politics ... and it's not just because she has her finger on the hot-button issues.

carrie prejean

TMZ spoke with Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) who tells us he thinks Prejean could be a serious contender in the political arena: "[Carrie] has the ability to draw crowds and if she has a strong message to go with that, who knows what she can do? She has star power which can open doors.

"We've all made mistakes when we were 17. [The sex tape] is going to be an impediment, but people are excited about her convictions and her beliefs."

For the record -- Carrie was 20 when she filmed her world famous solo mission.

She would have to understand that gay people aren't the beginning and end of all the problems in the world. Based on what we've seen of Carrie this year, that's the message that came across. And that's the message that some conservatives want to come across. So I guess that motivated her, but we don't need a pretty girl to save the planet one gay guy at a time... We need something, but that's not it.

The Republicans are so desperate for a "star" that they'll jump on anyone who brings attention to the media - no matter what they do. Maybe they should recruit Jon Gosselin or Michael Lohan. Maybe Sarah Palin could run as President with Prejean as V.P.

Where's that right-wing drum beater that kept complaining:

"LAST TIME I CHECKED Playgirl magazine was porn. Not 'porn' ."

I just wanted to say, your pretty little Freudian Slip is showing again. Priceless

Talk about gay. Has anyone seen Glen Beck? Perez Hilton doesn't act half as gay as Glen Beck.

IT sounds as if Congressman Chaffetz would like to know Carrie for more reasons than, "politics." He could not have made it more obvious. A "dirty minded" man? Perhaps!

Perfect example of what's wrong with politics. The ability to 'draw a crowd' does not equal statesmanship. A statement this dumb should disqualify this guy for Congress. Maybe PreJean should run for his seat.

I do not understand why anyone would support someone who is a liar, does not take personal responsibility, is phoney, is so ignorant that she doesn't even realize how lacking in brain cells she is, has lost more respect than she has earned...
Perhaps those are the desired qualities we want in our leaders now. Then let's not complain about the mess our country is in. It would be nice to have mature, intelligent, honest candidates who have a sincere desire to better our government.

TO MAT, YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! I can only add that it was not too long ago when our country's leaders actually WORKED for us and what was best for everyone. Now, we have those who seek public office only looking forward to retirement to fully enjoy all the perks and enormous salaries, undeserved, for life! For goodness sake, congress does not even WORK but a few days out of the month. They are too busy giving our country away to anyone who asks! LOVE of COUNTRY? I don't think so! And now comes this Chaffetz numskull trying to further ruin our beloved country for what seems to be for "personal" reasons. Yes, Mat, our country is not at all what it used to be. Gone, are the days of, decency. How very, very sad!
