'Pants on the Ground' Used in Political Attack

1/25/2010 5:09 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The "Pants on the Ground" phenomenon has infiltrated the Canadian government -- where one member of the legislative assembly broke out in song to attack a member from a rival political party.

T.J.: Burke: Click to watch
It all went down Friday morning inside the New Brunswick Legislature -- when veteran politician T.J. Burke used "General" Larry Platt's theme song to explain how an opposition member had been caught with his "pants on the ground" during a recent radio interview.

Details aside -- it's just funny.

There seems to be some confusion, so for the Americans out there:
-We have 3 levels of government (municipal, provincial, and federal). This is at the Provincial level (Legislative Assembly as TMZ correctly stated) as opposed to Federal (Parliment).
-Provincial Liberals/Conservatives/etc... are not automatically tied to or affiliated with Federal Parties with similar platforms/and or names.
AND
-We have a sense of humour in the Legislative Assemblies and Parliment and popular culture punchlines are often used to illustrate points with humour. For example "Where's the beef?" has also been used during Question Period.

Wow, I don't understand why we (Canadians) feel the need to say that we are embarrassed? Seriously stop wiping ass and apologizing! This made me laugh, and quite frankly we are known for that. So his humour wasn't tasteful for some of you guys, but still, calm your asses about being embarrassed to be Canadian or from New Brunswick. My advise to you other Canadians, make sure to wash your hands after wiping so many asses to please others

Seriously folks!! We Canadians should be embarrased of OUR government???? Come on! I think not...There are so many American Senators,Govenors, and might I add President's that have made total fools of themselves over the years that I hardly think one little song in our Legislature even compares!! At least we don't have sexual encounters in our "Oval Offices"....lol

Eh! How's it going eh? Yes, some parts of Canada say "eh", some more frequently than others. That is part of our unique and rich national identity. It's nothing at all to be ashamed of, eh?
Nicely done T.J. ...hilarious. Such a joke in the provincial government is refreshing, as opposed to the completely and utterly embarrassing joke that the U.S. government IS. By the way neighbors, Wall Street/Federal Reserve is your government. Oh, and we know all of your states, capitals, history, geography and presidents. All Americans seem to know is that Canada borders their country...and that the temperature and climate drastically drop right at the border;)
