Coroner's Office Revisits Brittany Murphy Home

2/4/2010 10:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The L.A. County Coroner's Office is not satisfied that the toxicology report by itself will tell the whole story in the death of Brittany Murphy, so yesterday Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter paid a visit to Brittany's husband, Simon Monjack, and her mother, Sharon Murphy, and asked a bunch of questions.

Ed Winter: Click to watch
Sources tell TMZ a man who worked at Brittany Murphy's house has told the Coroner's Office that someone would deliver a sealed, manila envelope to the house every Friday filled with prescription medications in bottles. The name on the envelope -- "Lola."

Sources say the ex-employee told the Coroner drugs were also mailed from Los Angeles to Louisiana -- where Brittany was shooting a movie and Simon was tagging along -- in the months before she died.

We're told the pathologist in the Coroner's Office who is working on the case had a variety of questions for Simon and Sharon. Among the questions -- Why was there no record of Brittany seeing a doctor in the months before her death, especially because she had several medical conditions and was experiencing severe abdominal pains days before her death?

We're told Winter met with Sharon and Simon together and they were cooperative.

That is seriously scary. I don't know the details of this manila envelope with pills in it. But, wouldn't you think that if someone wanted to put 'WHATEVER' in it, they could, and if she expected the same thing every time, might take it anyway. I hope the cops do their job and follow that all the way. I wouldn't put MY life in the hands of any hollywood company, or broke gold digging husband, who knows that celebrities are worth more dead than they are alive. Such a shame.

12. Medications have a variety of similar ingredients. They test for a lot. But you see a variety of ingredients. For example, a tox screen would not be positive for "Xanax", but for the ingredients in Xanax. An ingredient in Xanax is Dextropropoxyphene, which is also in Aspirin. Every ingredient Xanax is also in something else, combined with other different ingredients. So by seeing what medications she had at her time of death is very helpful, as it narrows down what ingredients she had in her possession, and from there they can figure out which medications she had consumed, and if there were any others. Then they can calculate out the amounts of each. That would be incredibly helpful in her case, where there is no clear cause of death, And pathologists are in school for around 15 years. They are not "clowns".

Exactly. Just because some uneducated person does not understand the process or doesn't understand that these things take time, then they automatically say that the coroner's doesn't know anything. Or if the findings are something they didn't want to hear because they have an unbalanced emotional attachment to an actress or a singer,
then they scream conspiracy. I think it's because that's what THEY would do, if they feel jealous of someone, they'll make up a lie about them, so that's why they think that other people, like the coroner's or police, are making up lies about their favorite celebrity, because after all, coroners and police don't have anything else to do or think about, except to be jealous of the same celebrity that some ignorant person happens to like. That way, in their delusional mind, it can be all about THEM.

To #32 Jaggen, that's a very good point about the bigwigs in Hollywood.

It seems prescription drugs are as rampant in Hollywood, as cocaine was back in the 80's. Deepak Chopra made a comment that whenever he's at a Hollywood party, every other person comes up to him to ask him for a prescription.

The banks and credit card companies have become the new loan sharks and the pharmacuaceutical companies have become the new drug dealers. Lovely.

I agree with that.
That's why it's important for celebrities not to support pharmaceutical companies by buying their drugs and making them richer. They should try to think outside the box by looking at homeopathic remedies, eating right, exercising, and getting psychological counseling. I can think of some recent, well-known celebrities who have supported these companies A LOT.

My father was a coroner in California for 20 years. They are not magicians, but they DO check EVERYTHING. A young deceased person with no apparent trauma is gone over with a fine toothed comb. They DO check teeth, every inch of skin (for needle marks) stomach contents, they weigh every organ etc. etc. In the end a tox and blood and serum assays will give clues to what the person may have ingested. Make a note that the coroner's report(the death investigator) and autopsy results (which is an MD highly trained in the field) only list the manner of death> natural, accidental, suicide, homocide and undetermined. Then they move onto cause of death pnuemonia, diabetes, blood clot etc. TV programs are not where the general public should be getting their info on Coroner procedures!

Wait, they're trying to blame people because an adult did not do what her doctor recommended, nor did she visit the doctor when she was sick. It's not their fault she didn't go to a doctor. They're grasping here. I can't imagine her mother abetting her with drugs or her husband. Put it to rest people. She was an adult, she had a free will. She wasn't locked in a cell.

Someone needs to start investigating these studios and everything affiliated with 'stardom' in LA and Hollywood. Obviously something immoral is going on and has been for many, many years. When there's money on the line, these 'stars' are not people, they're commodities. The role calls for you to gain weight, you do it. The role calls for you to lose weight, you do it. Need more muscle for your next role? Sure! Here's a trainer, dietician and some steroids to make it happen yesterday! "You'd be perfect for the role if your breasts were larger and your nose was smaller..." I remember attending an audition my mom took me to when I was about 3. How could I remember that you ask? I remember because they said I was exactly what they were looking for, only my teeth were too big. Nice business.

If the toxicology reports aren't providing any new information, I doubt the husband will voluntarily provide any new information which could harm himself or harm his wife's image. The Medical Examiner looks as if he enjoys cheesing up for the cameras and is just milking the publicity for his own ego. Why keep harrassing her poor mother? I feel more sorry for her mother, than I do her husband.

When there's money on the line, these 'stars' are not people, they're commodities. --- True, and they are paid very well for it. Just like people who work in any industry, either you conform to company standards and perform, or you don't have a job. That's life.

No one puts a gun up to people's heads to make them go into show business. It's a business built on "show" and "image". There are other professions on earth where you can look anyway you want. Who wants to see a greasy fat dude starring in an action movie? Hollywood has high standards because the public pays big bucks for fantasic looking people in films. If Keanu Reeves weighed 400 pounds, he would not have starred in the Matrix movies.

sharon i am sorry for you and wish you well....Brit was a cutie and had a TON of talent! Fell in love with her from day one on Cluless. The show would not have been half as good without her. Also very good on "Don't say a Word" and many other movies. Looks like she was a nice and happy individual and she loved her mother very much. Just know that she is in a better place and you WILL see her again ..:)
