'Deadliest Catch' Captain -- Tribute at Sea

2/12/2010 9:35 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Captain Phil Harris is receiving the most distinguished honor he never wanted to get -- a makeshift memorial at a spot dedicated to great fallen fisherman.

Ever since the "Deadliest Catch" star passed away earlier this week -- friends, family and fans have created a shrine in the Skipper's memory at the Seattle Fishermans' Memorial in Washington, just miles from Phil's home.

So far, we're told the family is still working on funeral arrangements.

God Bless you Captain Phil. A huge part of the show will be missing now. Rest in peace. And to your sons and family, sending love and comfort to them.

I pray that I may live to fish.......
Until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray:
When in the Lord's great landing net
And peacefully asleep
That in His mercy I be judged
Big enough to keep.

RIP Captain. You will be missed.

My husband & I will miss him from the Deadliest Catch show very much, he was our favorite Captain, such a hard worker and hard life these men endure. We bring them into our homes thru TV and they become a part of our families, I am still in tears over this.
R.I.P. and may your family find some comfort in knowing how these men touch us all, from all over the World. We hope his boys will carry on with the Cornelia Marie..

Welcome to eRepublik and welcome to the eUS! The focus of these articles is to give you access to both information and resources that can help make your first few weeks in the game easier and more enjoyable.

The first thing you should know is that the United States has an official message board outside of the game. On this you will find a section called "Welcoming Committee" where you can ask any questions that you have and get help if you should need it. This is also where a large portion of our community meets to discuss current events in the game, game mechanics, and just talk in general. You can these forums by clicking this link: The official United States Forum for eRepublik.

Another important place you can check for information is the eRepublik Wikipedia site. You can find this here: eRepublik Wikipedia. On that site, you will find a large part of the information you will need to learn how to play the game. A few key articles from the Wikipedia are:
Experience and Features

These will teach you the basics of the game and help you to get off on the right foot.

You should also know that the eUS government has programs that can help you should you need it.

The Meals on Wheels program that can help you get started by giving you FREE food. To sign up for this program visit here: Meals on Wheels
The eUS Mentor Program can help you by pairing you with a Mentor who can help you learn the game and answer any questions that you have. To sign up for a mentor visit: Mentor Program
If you're looking for a hand while on the eRepublik website, check out the In game chat. While in there, look for the Flying Unicorn Squadron, they can help if you need it.

This edition's educational focus is on "Your First 6 days". Thanks for this article goes out to the Department of Education.

The Basics.
eRepublik is an online game where you can follow your political, economic or military aspirations and change the course of history. In order to unlock features in eRepublik, you will need a certain number of experience points. That’s to say, in order to fight, vote, or join a party, you will need to gain experience points. Every day you eat (eating no longer gives XP, only wellness), work, train, and/or fight, you will gain experience points. An easy way to gain some experience points is to upload an avatar. Additionally, once you get your first job, you will gain experience points.

The First Week

Day 1

Upload An Avatar
Find any .jpg picture and upload it on your profile.

If you have no pictures available, save the current avatar picture and upload that. It may be cheap but it works. This is really the only way to personalize your citizen.

You Are Now: Level 1; 2 XP; 50 Wellness Points

Get A Job
Get your first job. Under the Market Tab, select the Job Market link and search for a company that hires skill levels 0-0.99 or click here.

Make sure to choose a job at a Q1 company, which is one with only 1 star, or your wellness will drain quickly. Additionally, when you join a job, you have to stay there for at least 72 hours before you can resign. With each day of work, you will earn money and increase your skill. Often higher skill is paid more. Every once in a while, you should check back on the Job Market to see what people with your skill level are earning. Also, it is STRONGLY recommended that you take a job in either the manufacturing field(Hammer and Anvil picture) or the land field(Oil Rig picture) as those are the two most important skill fields to our country’s expansion. The construction is a very limited field and has more than enough workers already than it needs.

You Are Now: Level 1; 7 XP; 50 Wellness Points

LEVEL 2 ACHIEVED! Ability to TRAIN unlocked!

Under the My Places Tab, select the Company link. On that screen, click on the work button in the middle of the page.

You should try to work every single day, as you gain 1 XP each day and are awarded 5 gold for a "Hard Worker medal," earned by working 30 days straight. You will lose wellness points for working. For example, if you work at a one star company, you will lose one wellness point; if you work at a three star company, you will lose three wellness points, etc

You Are Now: Level 1; 8 XP; 49 Wellness Points; 0.5 Job Skill

Under the My Places Tab, select the Army link or click here. On that screen, click on the standard training button, which is the 1st of the 4 blue buttons.

You gain 2 XP from training daily, while only losing 1 wellness point. For every level of 5 strength you will earn the Super Soldier achievement and 5 gold. You will lose one wellness point for tra

This is aweful. Captain Phil Harris didn't deserve this. Why couldn't this have happened to that Whale Wars jerk, Paul Watson.
