Kevin Smith -- Southwest Should Fit Wide Loads

Okay, Kevin, time for some truth here. You are fat. Fat on an aircraft can greatly alter the ability to go airborne - particularly in a Boeing 737 which is what the Southwest fleet of planes predominently are. It's not anyone's fault you are this fat. It's YOURS. Take some responsiblity and limit your caloric intake OR shut the F up.

No one wants to sit next to a fat ass on an airplane.

Even for normal sized people those flights are cramped. Maybe 17" is not a reasonable a$$ size.

Slob. How dare you blame the entire Airline industry for your eating disorder. You sir, lack self-respect and dignity. You have no concept whatsoever of taking responsibility for one's own actions.

Take a bus next time.

We're not supposed to be fat. No one is genetically inclined to be fat. You got embarrassed. Suck it up. Lose weight or buy another seat. I have no pity for overweight adults. Just the overweight children being force-fed by their fat parents.

I think the majority of you must be 12 years old. I have never seen so much hate towards your fellow man in my life, it is obnoxious.

With the exception of the post below that makes sense and a few others none of you should even be allowed in public, and God pray that you never find yourself less than what you consider perfect because you will all be the first ones in line with your hands out and your hatred is only breding more hate and it may end up being at yourself.

Folks it's the Airlines Fault and they will not own up to the fact. Seating in Airlines is now the narrowest of any other normal public seating. South West uses 17 inches as a seat width. Midwest Airlines uses 21 inch wide seats. South West has 17.3 inches elbow to elbow. Most modern theater seats are a nominal 22 inches with 24 inches elbow to elbow.

I'm glad all you astute readers of TMZ took the time to actually get your facts straight. I know it's hard to believe that TMZ took the one quote out of an hour and a half smodcast that would incite this discussion.

Instead of your blind rants on why we should send all overweight people straight to the concentration camps lets take a look at the facts.

- The Southwest blog stated that Kevin usually buys two seats on all his flights. Beyond the fact of releasing confidential customer information they also misrepresented the facts. This past week he had bought multiple seats because a.)his wife was supposed to go, and b.)believe it or not even celebrities, and personalities can be shy or introverted. Just like the majority here seems to despise sitting next to even a slightly overweight person not everyone wants to have a conversation with the person seated next to them.

- Again if you actually listened to his whole side of the story you would know that this has very little to do with him. In fact on his eventual plane ride home(fitting comfortable into one seat, but having the second for the above mentioned reasons) he contemplated not saying anything at all. That is until he met a women who had the same situation happen to her on their flight, and he witnessed her facial expressions. You may hate overweight people, but denying them any dignity is not only wrong but sickening to the core.

-On the flight he was removed from he was able to buckle the safety belt, and lower both armrests. When questioned both customers on either side said he was in no way infringing on their personal space. If all this criteria was met than their logic for throwing him off the plane is wrong.

- Once you get passed your bias toward overweight people think about the fact that maybe someone might not like him because of who he is. It's not out the realm of possibility that someone who works for the airline is a vindictive, or jealous person. Maybe he just really hated Jersey Girl.

- The point boils down to the fact that this policy of Southwest happens everyday to people who don't deserve the shame, or discrimination. Just because Kevin Smith has a forum on which to help propagate it dosn't mean this is the first or last time it will happen.

Vote with your wallets people. If you support this type of discrimination, and disgusting lack of human decency than by all means fly Southwest. If however anytime in your life you have been looked down upon, or discriminated against maybe you'll remember this situation when booking your next flight.

Kudos to Kevin for withstanding all this verbal abuse from uninformed commentators. I doubt many of you would open yourself up to this level of abuse just to stand up for something you believe is wrong. Instead you take to the internet without understanding the true story. Try getting your news from a more reputable, and less embellished site.

why is he flying southwest anyway? they suck!

fly the same airline as that fat pig monjak.they acomodated his lard ass when he ended up in the hospital because he took to many pills and called it an asthma attack (medications and size can affect breathing,then goes off to a fast food place WITH the bracelet on his arm.the world is all supposed to bow down to over weight people when these are the actions they perform?just because you have the munchies from that spliff doesnt mean you should act on it,after all it only kills the high to eat anyways.

we're not talking about fat or thin...we're talking morbidly obese...rather than blame Southwest or any other airline...you have two options: buy two tickets or lose some weight...sheesh...

I heard there was a pod of California Grey Whales heading south from SF who were just passing by. Mr. Smith could have jumped in the water and swam along side them and gotten off in LA.

Would have saved us a bunch of wasted time over him bitching between bites of his Big Mac's about how narrow the seats are.
